I've read the few threads regarding DIY door locks....

My problem is a little different, and hoping someone more talented than I can shed some light...

Since I've owned my 360, I've never been able to lock the car.
Every time I actioned the immobiliser, the doors would lock, and then unlock by themselves.
The drivers LOCK lever inside the armrest would cycle, but not so the passengers.

So, I've removed the passenger door panel to further investigate.

Linkages etc are in the correct place and in seemingly working order.

    BUT
I have disconnected the power to the locking mechanism (the one with FIAT stamped on it and placed up behind the external door release, and this has allowed the drivers door to operate normally.

With the passengers power disabled, I can lock the drivers door using fob and key, but as soon I plug power back into passengers mechanism, it all unlocks...

So I'm thinking a short circuit in passenger mechanism, or what?...

Just looking for thoughts, or maybe someone else has experienced the same.

    Thanks

I had this same problem, I thought at first it was just the drivers side lock mechanism. Replaced it then my passenger side locked up and froze. Nightmare to get it released. Replaced the passenger mechanism and all is working as it should.

    Hope this helps

    Chris.

I've had the same issue with my drivers lock when the linkage to the push button on the handle was too tight. If you loosen it under the armrest, does it improve? Also, if you loosen the cable at the lock from the outer door handle, does it improve?
Sometimes if the inner push button, inner handle or outer handle.. If the cables are too ight the lock can think that you're trying to open the door so o speak and won't lock it.
If not this.. Then just replace the lock mechanism. They can get gummed up.

    Thanks for the replies....

The cables are stretched if anything, and I've tried most permutations of tightening, loosening...etc etc....
I think I'll just replace the lock mechanism and all the cables...

It's funny that its a Fiat/Lancia part (as shown in the DIY threads), and so I called a Fiat dealer, hoping that they'd be a little cheaper, but the dealer wouldn't deal with me... He just said "it's a ferrari, go to a ferrari dealer"....

And so my next question is..... Which model Fiat is this part common to?

It's been a fun exercise... I've replaced the speakers too... Now got 150watt per side!!!

The original ferrari speakers didn't show the resistance, but I'm using 4ohm speakers..

Checkout the door locks for a fiat punto (looks like MK2). Goto ebay.co.uk and put "fiat pinto door lock" in. Compare to: "ferrari 360 door lock" on ebay.uk.
I CAN NOT GUARANTEE FITMENT.. but it looks like it should work. I would try one if it were me.
    Good luck!

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully someone can help me out here. I’m currently dealing with the common door lock issue on my 360 Spider. My main goal here is just to be able to lock the car when it’s in a parking lot or while traveling. If I unplug the electrical connection from the locking mechanisms inside the doors, will I then be able to just insert the key and manually lock each door? Any help is much appreciated.
