F40 to LM spec for sale in the UK

Hence why I said LM spec and not LM

I guess it sits in between a road car and the real deal, not one or the other which is why its struggling to find a buyer at the price level

 

As you say, neither one thing or the other. Not my cup of tea.

 

I don't mind it. I would change the wheels first thing though as they don't really suit the car. How much are they asking?

 

No, not even close to LM spec. As best as I know, no wider track, no LM suspension, no LM brakes, no engine upgrades, no LM wheels, no strengthening, nor the myriad of other differences, no history and so it goes on. Sorry, but an F40 with a body kit and a few parts is how I see it.

 

It was around £550k, but that was some time ago.

 

hey its still a genuine F40 at the end of the day with nice bodywork, and has been enjoyed no doubt.

 

I recently saw this in the north west, I like the way it has had upgrades done . At a quick glance it looks standard. Look closely and you find different wheels,brakes,turbo,exhaust, etc. all original parts kept to return to factory standard. Approx 650 BHP. Awesome motor car.

IIRC it was nearer to 300? I think it's been for sale for close to 2 years now, too.

 

Why would someone list this an as LM? It's NOT. List it as what it is, an F40 with LM look-a-like parts. The ad is deceptive and VERY incorrect, "1989 Ferrari F40 LM Specification. Legends are pleased to offer this outstanding F40 LM Specification for sale." That's just flat out wrong and misleading.

 

Why don't they spend a couple of hundred of dollars and get professional HD photos for the listing?

I very much doubt anyone in the market for an original LM would be mislead by the advert. It goes on to detail the actual story after the headline. They are car dealers at the end of the day, and just like auctioneers they always put a spin on things. Any buyer would cut through the crap and do their due diligence before any deal was done.

In my humble opinion an LM bodied F40 is how they should have looked from the start anyway. Much like the Mclaren F1, the race version looks far more purposeful.
