Yes, that car was the first prototype.

Gold sills were not made a PRODUCTION option till the SV.

Yes that's the one! That car also has different headrests to the early cars too, more like the SV?

Personally I think the car looks very nice with the gold wheels 'n sills.

Thanks for the replies BTW...my AotY 2013 vote heading your way.

Looks like it. I'm sure someone requested gold sills before SV production, but my point is they didn't appear regularly till SV production.

There's something about a Miura that makes you just want to sit on the hood.

Shrade Radtke told the story of two dimples being left on the hood of the ZN75 when it was "sat upon" by Miss Canada while in Montreal. I appears production cars were not affected the same way...

Oh wow! I remember seeing SV #4866 a number of times around 1990-91-ish That car was on Dixie Hwy,West Palm Beach in a small shop across from the cemetery.

I wonder if Joe knows its whereabouts.

Beautiful, is it still in the US? Also, I noticed it went from gold to silver. What color were the sills & wheels originally when it was new?

One more thing Joe. The pic of the Miura in straight 8's ad shows a Miura with wiper wings. I've also seen the exact wiper wings on other Miura.

Was that original to that car back in the day?

Man! I missed this add lol!. Its hillarious! In case you have not figure it out yet, its not about that you have to be naked to drive a muira but rather when you buy this underwear, it feels like driving a muira... a sensorial pleasure...hum.hum....

I have seen much worst with candys commercial in the 90s over there....

Actually, it went from silver, to black, to dark (non-metallic) blue.

I am not sure those wipers were original to that Miura in the Straight 8 Ad.

Thanks Joe. I'll have to dig around an old hard drive to see if I can locate a couple more examples of Miuras sporting those exact wipers. I've seen at least 3 others not including the one in the ad above.

To clarify. The sills were gold then went to silver. Not the entire car.

Do you know if gold or silver was used for the sills/wheels?

The sills & wheels of 4866 @ new were gold. The lips of the wheels were polished when Rod Stewart kept this car in Beverly Hills.

Do you know how it ended in West Palm Beach around 1990?

Rod didn't move to Palm Beach until perhaps 1997/1998. Was he still the owner circa 1990?

Only reason I recall this car is I used to have one of my cars serviced at the repair shop/dealer this car was for sale. I became friends with one of the mechanics named Tony that worked on my car long after he left the establishment. Tony later became a Snap-On dealer that supplied my father with tools from his Snap-On truck.

I heard rumors that it was for sale @ $400k back then but never asked because it's just something that a 21-22 year old "nobody" should be doing on a car like that.

I learned to respect these types cars at a very early age.

4866 was first Miura I had ever laid eyes on. It's one of those cars that you simply don't forget. Now that I'm four shy of 50 man oh man what a treat every time I get to see or ride in one. The older I get the more I appreciate the Miura.

    When I become a "somebody" I'm going buy myself a Miura. =)

That ex-Rod Stewart 4866 actually looks quite nice to my eyes in that somewhat unusual colour combination. Nicely offset with the light (tan?) interior too.

    Triple-x - Don't you have a Countach?
