A rare piece of hot rod history. Boyd Coddington brought his company public in an IPO in September of 1995. This is a black granite/billet aluminum desk top piece/tombstone from the IPO that is in perfect condition, no scratches, chips or nicks. It is 6 X 7 X 2 inches and is about 5 lbs. For the hot rod enthusiast that wants a unique piece sitting next to his '32 Coddington roadster in the man cave. Cleaning out "stuff" in garage....make offer.

Yup....Boyd Coddington was a legend in the hot rod world. Great item for the hot rod person. I'm not much of a hot rod guy, but many friends are American muscle car fanatics. Friends and neighbors have a "boys club" stuffed with about 35 cars, (most Fords, many Shelby Mustangs, Pantera, 3 race prepped Panoz, etc) down from Fosse here in Huntington Beach.

Probably the only one who made any money off of Boyds stock.

I wonder if there's any corresponding bankruptcy memorabilia. As a local guy I still remember the huge spread in the OCRegister outlining the timeline from founding to IPO to BK of the wheel company.

Sorry, No BK material. Do have GM BK material though. Also, have material from when Kirk Kerkorian tried to take out GM and save it starting with a tender offer.

Keep in mind Boyd's Wheels doubled from the IPO in the next 9 months. They raised more in a secondary at that point....plenty of time to cash out and do well on the stock. Boyd was a wheel/hot rod/fabricator/creator type guy. In my opinion, he probably should have let more business minded individuals run the company. Also, many wheel guys have gone BK as the Chinese moved into the wheel business.

From what I understand, some of Boyd's creations will shown at the first "Desert Concorso" March 30th in Palm Desert. I'm sure there are lessons to be learned from the inception of Boyd's Wheels, buying out the hot rod side of the business and then right to to the ending...The man was a legend, even to those who are not hot rod fans like me.
