Looks like apple is about to annouce this in conjunction with Ferrari,

Apple announces CarPlay in-car iPhone interface - Autoblog

technically, the article says an ios update and just plug in the phone to your car's ipod adapter, so the question is whether the 2014 458 is going to support this or will it be in the 2015 models??

It won't be in either until they launch a new model like the 458T or F12M.

I am sure the new California T and updated FF will have the controls. Doubt the 458 or F12 will get it as it doesn't have a full touch screen navi system.

My guess is that without the touch screen interface, the 458 will not get this. It needs a major redesign of the dash and interfaces. My guess is they will wait for new models instead of retro fitting.

Hell they can't even do streaming audio yet.

Works with my Xperia Z1 in my Speciale... It's even possible to scroll through the palylists.
Maybe it just doesn't work with that Apple-crap.
Why always a special solution for iOS ???

To be clear and this is fact. The Cali T has it but no other model will have it until a new version is announced. As The Mayor has correctly pointed out it needs a new screen with all that means so it will held back for the 458T, FF M and F12M, or whatever they call the new or Modificato models.

Do whatever you want to do... The Cali T will be able to handle your iPhone 5S ;)

I just wanted to point out that some features are implemented and work with Non-Apple-Mobiles...

Haha it can't be the wrong car :D
I'm having the new delivery in some weeks.
I will verify if it will be able to manage my 5S or not.
This waiting is really killing me. :(

You're right - it's definitely NOT the wrong car :D

I'm looking forward to see pictures of your car after delivery.

P.S. To shorten the waiting-time you can start looking for a good mobile-phone :D :D

Lots of hype online and lots of sensational headlines name dropping Ferrari but no detailed information or images.

Looks like someone has confirmed bluetooth streaming on the 458 speciale... I wonder if this can be updated on older 458s...

Not interested in third party solutions.

However I'm really annoying because of this waiting.

    Thank you.

It's obvious that the 458 will probably never get this as the screen is behind the steering wheel and cannot possibly be a touch screen which this interface is built around.

I'd settle for just bluetooth a2dp in the 458.

Personally, I don't know what all the fuss is about...it's just Siri. Buy a $20 iPhone mount and sync your phone via bluetooth for free and you will have all the same functionality.

Sure, it won't look as seamless as a built-in touchscreen dash but feature wise it's EXACTLY the same. Do you really need an extra home-button on the steering wheel to access siri from your iphone?

    @Moogle I´ve got a2dp in my 458 working.
@freshmeat Wrong. Its not just siri, its a System wide integration of iOS Controls.
I would love to use the musicplayer or spotify from a touchscreen.

Do you have a 2014/speciale? Or are you using the viseeo tune2air bluetooth dongle or similar device?

If you have a 2013 like me, or earlier Id love to hear your solution.

Sorry, I don't want either Apple or Google in my Car-System ;)
Otherwise I will have to activate my car before I can start it and buy my oil-refill via the iTunes Store or Google / the NSA will have all data about the fuel-consumption of my car and thus I will have to pay double emission-taxes :D :D
Hands-free works perfect via Bluetooth (which it did BTW also in my 2010 Italia) and for me that's sufficient...

Touch screen is NOT a requirement of Apple Carplay. Mercedes demonstrated it on their cars that do not have touch screens.

Yes, but Luca is saying nothing about the 458 in this announcement. He's saying the FF is first, and nothing about the 458.

I think that's significant. If it were easy, he would say "all models".

Sounds like you have never tried connecting via aux. you can get all that goodness, but without the bigger dash touchscreen and an extra "home" button on your steering wheel. Big whoopdidoo.

When the collaboration deepens to a point where we can remote lock, set our cars in valet mode, save drive modes, adjust suspension height, activate / view dash cam, tweak gear maps etc via the phone then I will sing a great big hallelujah.

But that's just me...pitched it awhile ago to Ferrari, and even did a small FOG user research consensus and perhaps some of it will make it in phase two.

It's the Italians' call to make now :)
