I have the '84 308 QV in Panama City, FL. Never particpated in a chat before so pls excuse this rookie this is my second attempt to respond. I am a retired engineer DIY with a collection of vintage cars and motorcycles and a shop with 2 lifts. My car is in good condition with 55K miles, security system, Alpine stereo, Gotti 16" wheels, Stern lighting kit, etc.; and I am upgrading it (Birdman fuse box, completed tool kit, window accelerators, Retro Air, etc.) to be an excellent driver since I regulary operate everything. Mark posted a picture on page 3 (I think) taken on the lot with my original paint purple '74 TR6 in the background. His interest was one reason I jumped on this car, since what could be better that a red (sorry to a purist but I am color blind) 308 QV Euro! The previous owner of 20 years sold due to intermittent shut down that I realized was a dead AA battery in the security system remote so it was going into the immobilizer mode.

Welcome Rich and good to "see" you again! I'm glad you found us. I'll add your name to the Euro QV database. Look forward to meeting up with you again next time in PCB.

Was looking through your pics. Looks like a US car (mirrors, bumpers, grill). I've heard there were variances to Federalization, so yours could very well be a Euro. What's the letter in the eighth "digit"?

Look forward to your build thread too!

Mark full serial number is ZFFLA13B000051221 so its a Euro and so are the bumpers, grill and mirrors so here is another picture that show bumpers and mirror. Sorry but I am not good with chats and I stay overwhelmed with 20+ projects. I will try to participate more since I do have lots of lessons learned as a DIY/engineer, but more with British sports cars and vintage Porsche. I tried to attach two images, one of car and one of the import plate but I think only the car shows, the import plate says it was imported by Benjamin R Du. Appreciate if anyone has information on him. I will check my post to see if the image of the import plate shows and if not, I will send that along.

I was unable to attach more than one image so here is the import plate image. The work I mentioned has all been done except the Retro Air AC, I expect the kit tomorrow and to start the install next week. I got started on this since I need to check/replace my timing belts and thought as long as I am in there I should upgrade the AC. I got a stack of receipts and one shows a complete service 10K miles and 7 years ago so I will take a look at the belts. My car's AC was converted to 134 but the hoses are original and should be changed to barrier-type so as long as I am in there, I will just upgrade everything including the noisy circulation fan and Italian York-style compressor.

Sorry Rich, I wasn't talking to you. I quoted N900WM. No worries. You'll get the hang of it. I know yours is definitely a Euro. Sorry for the confusion.

And for any others, I'm not questioning whether a car is Euro or US. The VIN doesn't lie though. I've just always seen Euro cars with smaller bumpers and different mirrors.

This 84 Euro QV GTB is listed again on ebay in Florida. Looks like a nice car that received the "full" federalization back in the day (bumpers).

Also, Rich in Panama City...I found some good pics of your car I took last summer. PM your email and I'll send them to you if you want.

I know German spec'd cars had the wire mesh in the intakes…mine does. What's interesting is it's a Euro with American spec bumpers…weird.

No. In a GT/4 the speedo says Dino where there's a horsey in the pic.

    Things to be happy about.

    1. It's got 17 bids
    2. Bidding is at $45k
    3. It hasn't hit reserve
    4. Mine is nicer and less US-ified
    5. I'll never sell

    :D

Does anyone know the car at Veloce Motorcars currently on ebay ? It looks much better in the current "indoor" ad than it did in past outdoor photos. How easy is it to get the euro bumpers put back on ? I assume it would be pretty easy compared to the fabrication necessary on US cars. Also, do the driving lights look original ?
