It seems 331 is a pretty popular speed! She was still accellerating but I don't overtake with such speeds so I had to hit the anchors when a truck appeared.

Woh! That's pretty fast. She was still accelerating at 331? Which driving mode were you in?

Hey Ulli, nice to hear from you. Always still use my head even when going fast, and of course the unpredictability of others is always my main concern. As I said, I don't overtake with such speeds.

This year I have very little time for Ferrari stuff as we are sailing our boat 3,000 miles down to Sardinia. But in our current planning Schloss Dyck could be an option, and I've been meaning to visit for years. Let's discuss this further, I'll send you an e-mail.

Driving modes don't have any influence on top speed. She was in SPORT mode. My guess is she would eventually have reached around 343 on the dial, which should correspond to the manufacturer's claimed top speed of 325 real kms/hr.

It was, BTW, very interesting how well my brother in my old 550 could keep up. The 458 is not massively faster between 250 and 300, but she does have a higher top speed. The 550 is still an awesome machine.

I could only go 280km on 13' spider...
Need some strips on an deserted air strip.

And I don't want to go on the news! Not yet...

I think I grazed 100 for a split second in a 458. I hit 140 in a Testarossa years ago - but those old speedometers are so unreliable, it was probably more like 80. I've been a passenger in a few cars that hit some respectable speeds. But my most notable experience, as a passenger, was hitting 217 (mph, not kph) in a Koenigsegg CCXR, on a closed private airstrip, with Didier Theys behind the wheel.

When I look back, I realize that I've been blessed with just an insane amount of luck in my short life. To look back and consider all the cars I've driven or have ridden in - it's like looking at a movie.

    My Koenigsegg experience.

It seems reliable, I have to do a test similar to this one!
Did you do that on the A7?
I only have Vallelunga near where I do live. But the straight part is not enough!

This test was done a little further south, in South Africa :)

We're at 1400m above sea level here, so the air is a little thinner. Can't wait to test her down at the coast. I think we'll crack an indicated 330km/h without too much difficulty.

According to QR's test, the car reaches 330 real km/h at an indicated 340 kph.

What is that traffic sign assist? Is it an option on the Speciale?

No, it's a legal requirement in the UAE once you go over 120 km/h , I guess...

    I was a passenger at 302 KM/H.
Pretty stable, although with a bit of front lift.

Wheels are stock, but the car is a little bit lowered than the Scuderia.
    Maybe this is the problem.

Had a little flight this afternoon ;-) But I think, topspeed is higher in the Italia as it has a little less drag. My Italia went 338 max... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe with some more time it would have gone slightly over 330...
