Next up the car. Big improvement but boy does it not need the standard wheels. Whereas, IMHO the old Cali did not look bad on the standard rims, because this is so much sharper, they look terrible and destroy the look of the car. Rear so much improved and first shot is the new central clock/turbo boost dial. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car did not look as good in this new red as the pic suggests as the lines appeared lost and did look better on the white car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of the most interesting things, given a comment by The Mayor which I initially agreed with, the touchscreen does not seem to mark up badly. I don't know if it has been treated in some way or the lighting was forgiving, but it did not seem to mark anything like as badly as I expected. Engine very compact with tiny turbos on very very short and seemingly narrow manifolds. They have learnt a lot since their last turbo effort. Hope all this helps, but overall, provided it sounds and drives right, they have a clear winner. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting that the TPE (Turbo Performance Engineer) is also touchscreen and can display various types of information.
Are you still thinking Grigio Silverstone, or do you think the lighter colors will look better overall?
There was a stunning Grigio Ferro Speciale also on the stand. I would like a light interior as it just suits the Cali better, whereas the 458 accepts a more sporting focused serious black. So two choices, my usual uniform of beige and Grigio S or just possibly Grigio Ferro and black as I don't feel Grigio Ferro quite works with the beige in a convertible, at least with the roof down. Poor pic of the white one, but the lines picked up much better. Sorry, could not get far enough back to get it all in. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have never cleaned the 8.4" Uconnect screen in my Dodge truck and after 15 months of use it has no marks on it at all even though I use it every time I get in the truck. Also works fine with gloves on. Wouldn't be surprised if they share the same type of screen.
Are the rim edges on the optional rims a darker colour than the spokes and hub? I think it would look better if the rim edges are more visible and prominent. Otherwise, under most lighting conditions, the wheel well, tire plus rim edges would all blend together and look like you are riding on tires with huge sidewalls it would result in the opposite visual effect to a low ride height. The photo of the monochrome metallic blue car earlier in the thread has it right.
My Cali is Silver with black interior/red stitching which is a really pretty combination IMO. I have always liked white cars and this might tempt me there. The lighter colors are just more practical where I live due to heat and dust... I like what I have seen and will be sending in a deposit to get on the list this month...
The lighter colors such as Bianco Fuji have always suited the California better than the deeper and darker alternatives.
hi guys, if u go to the special of Ferrari california t in the italian website ( but i think also in the others) there is a part called 'sounds' and there u can listen to all the sounds of the new Cali. I am very apologize the car really sound so different and very far from a ferrari classic sound , the melody now is very similar to a porsche turbo.... very very sad, i was wondering to buy this new car but after this listening... i really don t know (((((((
Here's the official video- you have a great chance to see the car from multiple angles and whole moving, but the music doesn't allow much pure engine sound to compare with the NA version. It does sound seem to sound "deeper" at low range, but those of you here who actually know about these things can explain what we're hearing. Looks more like a mini-F12 drop top seeing it in motion IMHO. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNZKmLMbTk0]Ferrari California T - Official video / Video ufficiale - YouTube[/ame]
Found the various audio files for the engine at start, passing and accelerating. It is at the bottom of the California T homepage (just below the map); scroll down & hit the tab on "engine" in the multimedia section here: Official Website of Ferrari California T
no is not this video!!! go to ferrari.it and when u jump into the special of Cali t u will find a part named 'sounds' is not a video! only engine sounds!
Not every thing that is done from ferrari is perfect , i hate this sound it remember me a golf gti!!!
Interesting question as we went round all the principle manufacturers as you would expect. Surprisingly new Mercedes S class Coupe is a class act and a huge step forward for them. McLaren, the coupe now looks a real mess but somehow the Spider takes the changes much better albeit anodyne. Huracan is a cracker but a bit like sitting in your coffin. We then had a discussion about McLaren and brand and their problem as rumours of new Spiders at $100,000 abound and came to the conclusion they have a real issue here as their cars just don't quite make it onto a school boys wall. Ferrari can fall back on this romantic link to the 50's and 60' and even 70's when the company were hugely successfully in sports cars and F1 and their road cars were driven by all the genuinely glamorous 'Glitterati'. If I was to drive away with one car at the show without spending $1m+, it would have been the F12 but were I much younger possibly a Huracan or, and I never thought this before, more likely the Ferro Speciale and much older the S Coupe! Its an age thing. Ferrari stand was typically rude and made you feel you were lucky to be there whereas all other stands were delighted to entertain you and the dynamic was reversed.
