So I washed my car today and drove it in and out of the garage. I am pretty sure it primed when i first opened the d-door? Though when I drove it back in and was drying it, the pump did not start when opening the door... Could this be because it is already primed because it had already been started or is there a problem? Thanks Btw it primes when I turn the ignition
Is it a stick? I kid, I kid. If I open the driver's door after the F-1 is up to pressure, the pump will always run for at least a fraction of a second. I would take it as odd if it did not run at all until the ignition is turned.
Its an F1 All sorted. As thought I have been advised that its normal after the engine had been started and the pump is full. I retried opening the drivers door approx. half hour later and all was back to normal. The pump primed when it was opened. ...just did not notice this before.. though I have only owned the car for a short while
OK... I have a question. Sometimes I go get something in the car and hear the F1 pump when I open the door. if I don't drive the car, what happens to that pressure? I guess it's released eventually and won't cause any damage?
I always use the passenger door. It wont damage anything but if you can avoid switching it on you would imagine it would have a longer life span
I think the fluid just bleeds back past the pump seals thus losing pressure. If the seals are excessively worn then the pump will not be able to maintain enough pressure. Alan
thanks. it's an annoying little worry but I keep telling myself that the engineers must know that people often times open the doors without going to start the car.
