275 GTB slotted or phillips screws

My opinion was asked today whether for the short nose 275 GTB interior slotted or phillips headed screws should be used. I am rather certain at least the short nose should have the slotted type. But when/which model did Ferrari switch to phillips screws?

Bart: I have traveled this road many times. Scaglietti used "slotted" trim screws up until the Daytona.

 

The Daytona had slotted trim screws as well.

 

Number 4 slotted

 

My '64 Lusso which is a late production car has Phillips in various places in the interior, like the door panels and door strikers. But I am thinking about going with uniform slotted to avoid disagreements with the straw-hatted gents.

Silver with a bright blue interior is one of my favourite color combinations but you seldom see it. John can you share a couple of broader views of that interior?

My prior 275GTB- 07485-used slotted screws.

 

It will end up looking really weird!!!

 

John: I was speaking about the "trim screws", not the large phillips screws used on the door stickers. TRIM screws only. Number 4 and 6 slotted. Actually they are an Oval headed slotted trim screw, not Flat headed.

 

Yes Dyke, I have those oval headed slotted screws as well. Also, earlier Lussos I have seen have the striker screws slotted not Phillips like mine.

Thank you John. That is really a neat color for the interior and of course the contrast color for the carpet really sets it off. Interior color would go well with this paint example Grigio Fumo GTB!

Thanks CH, I have seen grigio fumo with red and butterscotch interiors but not blue. I think it will be a good look for the car.

Something I did not realize until I bought a strange little book named "One Good Turn" by Witold Rbyczynski is that the Phillips head screw was a relatively late invention. The first application to the automobile was the 1936 Cadillac.

Phillips himself was Henry F. Phillips, a 46-year old traveling salesman from Portland, Oregon. The giant American Screw Company took up Phillips patent and sold the Cadillac company on its first use.

Before I read this record, I had supposed that Phillips head screws had been with us since before the civil war.

 

Thank you all for your responses. I guess that we can be certain that the 275 GTB should have slotted screws for the interior. I trust the Pebble Beach Judges are now also aware of that.
