I did a search and didn't really find what I'm looking for...so I thought I'd ask. I've been looking for a >01, red/tan, manual, 360, coupe for a while now and they seem to be almost impossible to find. While I still prefer a 360, as I think they look better than the 430...I am considering moving/expanding the search to a 430...as there are many more of those available...and the extra $35K-$40K isn't that big of a deal.

I have heard/read on here that the F1 in the 430 is far "better" than the F1 in the 360. While I would not consider a 360 with F1...I'm thinking a 430 with F1 might be an option. I also think the manual in a 430 looks a little 'out of place' for some reason...not the case in the 360.

I'm interested to hear thoughts from the group on this.

I think your numbers on cost as low..430 vs 01 360..more than 40K diff.. 01 360 probably 80K-85K low miles vs 430 clean at 135 and up for 2005...and there are 2001 red/ tans available..found one on cars.com easily..your not looking very hard...

I'm figuring ~90K for the 360 and ~130K for the 430...I've seen a lot of nice 430 in that range. Suffice to say that the price difference really isn't a matter.

There was a guy that was selling conversion kits for 360's from F-1 to Manual for about ~5K IIRC. To me that was a bargain. Maybe search around or make a dedicated post to find him. Manual 430's have been hard to find for a while. That was the last manual Ferrari and you are late to be looking IMO.

The manual transmission in the 430 doesn't look as well designed/engineered as the 360 but it isn't ugly by any means. I added the CF perch.

My advice is to go with a manual transmission in either model if that's what you want. I didn't consider a F1 car after test driving both.

What I'm contemplating is either 360 manual or 430 F1...I really not looking for a 430 manual. I'm just wondering if the 430 F1 has been "improved" enough over the 360 F1 to make it an option over a 360 manual...which is proving impossible to find.

That is awesome!! Beautiful interior, love the cf and the manual. The cf knob with the red ring sets it off.. NICE!!!

I think it looks purposeful and occupies a prominent location in the cabin.

From what I heard it's a big improvement over the 360's F1. I have an '07 430 F1 and I couldn't be more happy. But, I never drove a 360 with an F1 transmission. Maybe others can chime in here. I used to have a 355 F1. Now that is another story altogether.

Finding a lower mileage 6MT car in either model is getting more difficult to find. I picked up a 2900 mile 2008 430 Spider 6MT a few months back...very tough find. Most 6MT 360/430 will have higher mileage than their F1 counterparts. They seem to be more fun to drive, thus driven more!:)

If you're thinking manual versus F1 and you really want a 3 pedal deep down inside... DO NOT COMPROMISE! When I was looking for my 360 I looked into an F1 briefly, but ultimately bought my 3 pedal 360. Every single minute I drive my car I'm soooo happy I waited. Its the experience you're after and they're so different in how they satisfy. DO NOT COMPROMISE IMHO if you want a 3 pedal deep down inside. You'll reget it and be one of the guys writing "I should have bought a 3-pedal". That's not the experience you want to have with your Ferrari.

I think you have to drive both if you can and go for what you really like, do not compromise on your happiness.

    this is incorrect...try finding a >01, red/tan, manual, 360, coupe...in good shape...they are almost impossible to find.

thought i found one on cars.com but it was F1..sorry Point being whether you get a 360 or 430 it sounds like you want a gated 6 spd manual, as others have said dont compromise..I have 2003 360 gated 6 speed as I wanted for the full experience of becoming one with the car, driving experience and I absolutely love the feel and sound...Wouldnt want an F1..If I feel the need for finger exercise I play a video game!!!lol

Really, The one thing that you have to consider is the 430 has 88 more horsepower than the 360!

My 1st 360 was 6spd and my current is a 360f1 my opinion if the $ doesn't matter buy the f1 it's more fun to drive!

Actually...that consideration is way down on the list. The 360 has plenty of HP for what I use a "pleasure" car for.

Interesting...this isn't something you hear everyday regarding the F1...usually it's said about the manual. It just goes to show how much all these things are personal preference. I'm almost positive I will continue the search for a 360 manual only. I was just looking for input from the group on the 430 F1 compared to the 360 F1. I appreciate everyone's input.

I have heard people say this but never for the F1 system in the 360.

So true. Am in the market for one, too. So many 360's, but a well-sorted '02 or >, red/tan/manual coupe is hard to find. Been looking the last 6 months.

Here are my thoughts. I HATE the F1 in that I feel like I am not really driving the car. I recently scored a low mileage 2004 360 manual. I don't even bother watching formula one racing anymore because I always considered shifting gears as the SOUL of the race. Why don't they go one step further and just have the drivers sit in the skyboxes and remotely drive the cars?LOL Can you imagine Mario A in his day sitting back and pushing buttons? Can you imagine Richard P in Nascar doing the same? Nothing like controlling a clutch, don't believe me? Just go to you tube and watch the race scene with Stevie McQ in bullit. OR better yet just watch James "Bubba" Stewart work a clutch in motocross.
