Err.... If you'd like to review the posts involved, I wasn't the one stating that My opinion was the only possibility of what might be happening with Schuey's current condition, I merely offered an option as to what might be happening. This was retorted to with:

Now unless finnerty is actually involved directly with Schuey's case, he cannot say with absolute certainty that what I have suggested is: "incorrect medical information" or "absolutely false".

Unless proven otherwise by Schuey's own medical team, it is a possibility that any muscular twitching could be caused by uncontrolled nerve/brain functions.

If others on here can prove beyond any doubt whatsoever that muscular twitching in a coma patient cannot be caused by uncontrolled nerve/brain function, then please feel free to do so!



And with that, I'll not bother returning to this thread any more as I no longer see any point in taking part in it! (Especially in light of accusations of giving out false information! )

As a thread, this has become far too over run by negative thinkers (or "realists"), and people claiming that their version of what might happen or be happening to Schuey is the only possibility.

Added to this, there are too many posters who are far too eager to have a go at those who dare to hope that Schuey might actually come out of this coma one day, to the point of ridiculing them!

From now on, you can all rest assured that I'll be keeping My thoughts and hopes for Schuey to Myself!

To all those on here still daring to believe in Schuey: KEEP THE FAITH GUYS!

BUT!! They really need to come clean on this. Tell us exactly what is wrong or not wrong right now. What they predict the chances are and so on. Just tell it like it is instead of this game of "hide and seek".

There is no shame in what happened to him or if he end up like a vegetable or not. No shame at all.

For the record, I agree with you--not only is he a public figure, he has endorsement contracts that are active and wherein he is 'soliciting' customers. It is unconscionable for his family to act this way.

 

Other side of the coin is that we dont know where all his money is invested/placed. You start saying hes not going to make it and you could have a run on the bank kind of situation with a lot of his interests.....

 

This really is a low point of this thread.

Seriously -- what does Schumacher's condition mean to you? What does it mean to his family?

They owe you NOTHING. They owe the press NOTHING who will turn every word or statement into some kind of tabloid exclusive.

You say "with respect for the family"? Maybe having respect is accepting their wishes in this tragedy.

Get a grip. Get some reality.

He is not a public figure. He's just a man with a serious medical condition with a family and a tabloid press eager to make a buck off of it.

What's unconscionable are posts like the one above.

Do you really think the family is doing this so they can make more money from endorsements?

That to me is the saddest post ever written on Fchat. "Inexcusable" would be a good word to describe it.

 

None of your/my business - Family has the right, I think anyone looking at the reality of the situation realize what is going on, also WHY DO YOU WANT AN UP TO THE DAY REPORT, HE'S IN A FUC#*! COMA:

No, but he is a celebrity. And one who made millions based on his fame. Money that also went to the benefit of his family.

You can't have it both ways: Once you choose to be in the spotlight and profit from it by merchandising your name (Michael Schumacher Collection), then you made a deal with the devil/press/fans who will continue to have an interest even when things go downhill.

 

Andreas, stop being so "it's all about me". You have it backwards, we owe MS and his family our respect for all that he gave us. They owe us nothing.

Returning to what is actually important, and it's not you in this case, if MS didn't have the funds available to keep the machine on I believe it would have been turned off by now. That is the reality they face and it is extremely sad.

I'm objecting to the "he is just another man in a bad medical situation" because that is not what is going on here. He is the most famous driver of the world's most watched sport and he is in the fight for his life. If that isn't worth reporting about then I don't know what is. So the interest by the press is absolutely justified and not "so they can make a buck off it".
And in regards to the fans, I do believe the communication could be handled better with occasional updates. No daily press conferences but a weekly or biweekly update would also squelch the rumor mill. And the family wouldn't have to deal with it since they have Kehm already. The no comment policy is rather strange and not befitting the situation and I doubt (as I pointed out twice already) it would be what MS himself would have chosen.

BTW: My post is really not about me and what I want. I can imagine what the situation is like and don't really need the updates. But I disagree with how this situation is handled from a communication perspective.

That's because it is. I do believe the fans deserve an occasional update released by Kehm. Simple courtesy.

 

Of course you can have it both ways.

This is not some scandal.

It's a man fighting for his life and his family wishing to prevent it from being a side show.

 

If one were to speculate about why Corinna will not allow Sabine to make any update announcements, despite the interest and support of Michael's fans, one might suggest that in the "no news is very bad news" scenario, that Corinna is not ready to give up and accept the worst case scenario (no recovery from coma, not breathing on his own), and that IF that were the current scenario, then permitting an announcement would acknowledge that scenario.

I can easily see and understand why Corinna would not allow that to be announced, would not be willing to accept that scenario, and that it could be a long time before they give up hope for a more positive recovery. IF the current state of efforts to wake him up are grim, Corinna and family will be insisting on giving him every chance possible, and will not announce anything to the contrary.

I am not saying that is what is behind the silence - but it would be an understandable explanation for the lack of updates... and I certainly would not fault Corinna and family for not wanting to acknowledge such a negative scenario now.

 

So if you're a Schumacher fan you deserve something?

entitled to what? If there was such a thing, Schumacher has already did his part of the deal. He is the one winning all those races and apparently bringing joy to those who chose to be his fan.

By simple definition, he is. He has a PR agent currently working for him for God's sake. PR stands for --- Public Relations. The only people who need one are people who are "public figures" on some level.

Now, folks can certainly debate about what it means to be or to what extent it applies to be a "public figure". But, come on......the guy is a public figure. You can be a public figure without a PR agent, but you cannot have a PR agent and not be a public figure.

 

Not this again..... My daughter was talking about some other well-known person's case in a tutorial and it boiled down to "medical condition of an individual is personal and it does not have to be made public".

 

Which means again we are back to "I'm not been informed enough". Sorry Andreas you have a funny view of what being somebodies fan is.

Your hero is effectively dead and being kept functioning by a machine and yet all you are worried about is you are not been updated.

There was a great speech by somebody once that went along the lines of: "Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". If you were a true fan of MS you would be trying to think of how you could help MS, instead of yourself. Try it and mature considerably.

I agree totally, didn't like him when he first drove for Ferrari but after a freelance journalist told me some stories in relation to Michael I felt he was a good human being let alone a great driver.

Twenty-one years of torment turned to joy and smugness thanks to Michael.

He has two young kids, they deserve to be left alone in this very private situation and let Corrina handle it her way

 

Where was the outrage when Dr Hartstein from Formula One who has been keeping us apprised of the details and interpreting the rumors to the best of his ability via his blog said the exact same thing over two weeks ago??

The good doctor is right. As sad as this situation is, for the fans it becomes worse with their silence which simply fuels rampant speculation and rumors in the media. If we were being told what was what on a regular basis then there would be little room for news that contradicts that.

I have become convinced over the recent years that some members are here (on the site) purely to enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing ---- so, I suppose that is no fun for them if someone is not available to argue back ?

We don't need to be told Corrine spent 10 fewer minutes today with Michael than yesterday and what that means. -- which is exactly what the press will do.

But I'm sure the press would never have "rampant speculation" if they were told more.
