Anyone have experience installing this in an F430? I went through several posts using the search function and gained quite a bit of info. The kit does not come with any instructions. My main question is what is used for power on the compressor? Does it use the wiring that goes to the horns? There are two power tabs on the compressor and there are two horns from the factory. I believe if the horn wiring is used, the connectors will be different requiring a cut and splice. If anyone did this install and has photos, I could sure use the assist. I can't believe these cars were produced with such a wimpy horn. Thanks

I would say that you will need to use a relay. Take power and earth from good locations to your relay and then just use the old horn electrics to pull the relay in when required.

Where is the compressor located? I can see the two horns with a 1/4" tubing into a T fitting then the tubing went somewhere toward the headlight...

There are many threads in this Forum about how to add air horns to your 360. Use the search function or check here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/257750-air-horns.html

I added air horns to mine. I had to fabricate a bracket to hold the compressor which I mounted very close to the horns ahead of the left hand side radiator. It was easy.

As I recall, I didn't use a relay but I did connect both the left and right horn wires to the plus terminal of the compressor. Works great.

I have one for sale if you're interested. Bought it for my Scud and never got around to installing before I sold the car.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you install this horn. I accidently honked my new air horn while pulling into my garage and it damaged my hearing. It is SUPER loud.

Hilarious. I bought a speaker assembly from a guy who damaged his hearing with his Ferrari. That's a good one!

The main thing I'm trying to find out is what wire(s) go to the compressor. Is it the existing horn wiring? Is one lead on the compressor hot and the other ground? I don't see any markings.

If I was to take a stab at it. This is a 12VDC close loop circuit with the horn button acting as the switch/contact. If you have a meter - one line should ring to ground and the other open till the horn button is pushed (then 12VDC should pop up). Existing horn wiring should be that way and would work the same way for the compressor. I am going to take a look at mine later this week and get back to you if you can wait that long. Mine have the conversion but the horn was mounted on passenger behind radiator instead...

My bad, this post was not necessary. My apologies.

Good luck with the horn project. I think it's a great idea and I wish my car had a more unique horn.

Thanks. I'm in no rush as I am still in the planning stage. I have the kit on hand and I did find the + and - posts on the compressor. I appreciate the help.

This is a FIAMM (OEM supplier) version with an integral compressor. It is more compact and easier to locate. Plenty loud.

The integral compressor eliminates the time lag while waiting for the hose system to pressure up before the horn sounds. It still needs a relay.

$53 at 500madness (dot com) - it is the horn of choice for the Fiat 500 chat sites. Planning this horn for my Abarth as well as the 360. No affiliation etc etc

I was actually thinking about putting a small plasic 'Y' in the air line so that the trumpets would not blast so loud, more like the conventional horn. The excess air would have somewhere else to go.

Just a FYI folks. All imported cars into the US from 2000 forward must have a horn in the key of F. The reason is deaf people who have partial hearing can only hear horns in the key of F. This is why when you close your eyes you can not differentiate a horn from a Ferrari, Mazda, Toyota, etc.

I replaced my stock horn on my 360 with a FIAMM factory twin tone air horn (red) and it has that international horn sound we all love so much. I had Moorespeed install it for me here in Austin and yes it's loud and I'm the only 360 in town with this horn. LUV IT!

    Tally,

OEM horn connector with a black and a violet/white. Mine FIAMM compressor has Black to (-) and Violet/White to (+). Test the horn after the electrical connect to see which port blows (connect that to the horns) before you mount and reinstall the bumper.

I would keep the harness side as is. Use try to use the old horn connector and spice in the Ricambi horn to it. Wasn't bad - hide the compressor above the radiator duct.

I install one in my 09 Scud, you have to remove the front bumper and both inner panel wheel well, I use the same 12v for power as used in the factory horn but undo the right side factory horn wire also and you may have to mod . abit of the bracket on the air horn , I bolted my horn on the front left side it a tight fit but it does fit in there , and I would paint the air horn flat black so it will hide better through the grills, there no cutting of any wires or drilling just unbolt the factory horn and use the same bolts holes as factory to bolt the air horns, it all could be back to stock
