    Hi All

To return the interior of my Mondial to factory delivery spec, I am looking for a sample of VM3171 Rosso leather so I can have the dye matched. Anyone could lend me a sample, which I promise to return promptly after having matched the dye?

    Thank for information/help!
    Urs

Same red as in the Mondial, correct? If so, FerrParts has a console cover listed on ebay. Search for part number 60734600 or item number 120688332254

Yes Wade, this would be for my Mondial. I saw that one too, but a touch expensive for my purpose of matching the dye.... Thanks for your help!

I bought a red leather headliner for my car on a whim that one day in the distant future I would want to replace my fabric headliner with it. I would be willing to ship it to you for your purpose if you would take good care of it but I am not sure if it is the right color since it is for a 360. It is a very deep red. I would call it blood red. In this photo from the add it looks lighter than it does now since I have treated it with Leatherique.

Here is a photo of the actual sample from the Connolly leather sampler.
Keep in mind this is a digital photograph so the color on your computer is not the same as what you see in the flesh. the photo shows up as too Maroon, rather a bit darker and not as rich as the actual leather.

On my computer, that sample (VM3171) looks just like what's in my Mondial.

    Yes, thanks

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for your offer. You don't have the color code or name of it by any chance? As the 360 is a much newer car, it might not be "period correct" for the Mondial.

    Cheers
    Urs

Thanks Mark, I have contacted them for a sample and am waiting for it to arrive. Are they the "legitimate" successors to supply Connolly hides?

Wade, good to know! All digital calibration errors camera sensors, image processors, graphics cards and monitors have evened out then :)
Are the carpets black or red in your Mondial?
Do you still have the original beige/crimson tissue headliner and door panel inserts?

Yes, all carpets are original red as are the door panel inserts (lower front). Here's the original headliner:

Luck you - no sunroof! Could you please post some "random" interior shots sometime from your seats, door panels, center console, ip and carpets so I have an idea how the car left the factory? Color split etc. Thanks. Mine also has the original tissue, but the grab handles are beige instead of black:

Hi Urs, there has been discussion of the sourcing of the correct PAC and VM leather on the Maserati sub forum here, I think I am correct in thinking that user Portenos has used UK hide to supply his maserati 3500 restoration.
In short, the hides appear the most correct AFAIK, and the company states that it has contacts with the Connolly family to assist with historical records etc. so 'legitimate' IMHO.

    Cheers. Mark.

    I wish I could help you with that but mine's a 3.2

This interior shot is from last year. The red is difficult to capture correctly as Gary already mentioned.

The photo with the manuals is from the original ebay ad just a few years ago.

When I bought the car, they were black leather. But not the same quality/grain/feel as the original rest of the interior - clearly a retrim. When I removed the inserts, I found Zegna wool threads in the glue behind the leather, indicating that they were indeed originally in tissue. So I retrimmed them back to original.
A black QV here has a black leather/grey wool interior and the door inserts still original tissue. I think they got replaced with leather in the 3.2 as they get dirty pretty fast from your hands and elbows, and leather is easy to clean while tissue is almost impossible to clean.

Thanks for all your help, gents. I have received a VM3171 sample from UK Hide, which looks very nice indeed. I will go with that for my matching purposes. I shall post the result of my interior work in the Mondial section.
