The Jalpa is still one of the favorite cars I have owned. Don't knock it til you try it... a good one at least. I think now, more than ever they are a great car for the money. With Countach prices on the rise, I assume Jalpa's won't be far behind although on a much smaller scale.

I LOVED my Jalpa!! Sure, it had its quirks but it always started and ran like a charm! I wish i still had it in the garage next to the Countach.

When you consider the Jalpa rarity, you wonder why it hasn't taken off yet... given how its dwarfed by 308 production, you think they would be grabbed up as an alternative. I don't know how they compare, but I bet its close. Style wise, Jalpa and 308 are sexy: 328 is cleaner, classy, but tame.

If I was in the market, I would pick Jalpa or 328 over a 308. Are all Jalpas targa tops??

Yep, the Jalpa is a targa top. When you consider that about 410 Jalpa's were built, it is rare indeed when compared to the 308/328.

Thing is the 308 design is timeless
The Jalpa whilst good looking isn't really a patch on that.

I loved my little Jalpa. It is much easier to drive then it's big brother. I think the big thing is the cost of parts and maintenance. If you find one make sure it is in GREAT shape, If you need to do an engine rebuild it could cost you the same price as the car!!!

I drove an American FI car.

    you nailed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a winner - excellent post.

    308 GTB looks better.

Advantage - car people do not even know about the Jalpa.

You are not going to see a Jalpa at every car event.

I had mine out on Sunday. A fun car. The market is so thin. In Europe the Jalpa has sold for more than in the US, for some time.

I love everything about the Jalpa.....except for the 80's dash.

In this case and others, the US obtains the neutered car.

+ I understand the sealed air box FI car is a pain to work on.

...and when compared to the FI, the RoW webers produce more power, sound better, easier to work on, and look better :D

I don't think any Jalpa were FI. All had 42 DCNF Webers as I recall... Never heard of an FI Jalpa.

I suppose that is identical to a 308!

Love love love the Jalpa. I was doubting they'd move up, BUT, I also doubted the rise of the Espada and now I'm kicking myself. Time will tell, apparently I cannot. SUPER car for the $

  19. The air boxes are a major pain. I took mine off. Even with them on, it is a MUCH easier car to work on than the Countach. Yes, (4) 42dcnf carbs, and it's a down draft setup.
