I can't imagine that these will be very popular with future Corsa Cliente members.
Mercedes say that an oil pressure alarm went off on Lewis' car on his out lap. Engine shuts down automatically if that happens.
+1 Which given all the changes, isn't too bad. But how many will reach the flag? I suspect Bernie is apoplectic right now! But, in this case at least, we can't really blame the FIA IMO - It is what the teams (or least the engine guys) wanted......the FIA pretty much just rubber stamps their requests. Cheers, Ian
In fairness, that didn't sound *that* bad..... Bad, but not quite as bad as the iPad made it seem. I think I've said it before, but I remember 'the silly Frenchmen' the first time round - sounded like crap back then too. But they got there in the end. Gotta keep hoping for the best I guess. Cheers, Ian
I watched the real time data on my iPad with the new F1 App for a couple of the cars - nobody was using more than 12K RPM. Aren't they supposed to be running to 15K rpm? If so - nobody was anywhere close. They might sound a bit better when they actually spin faster. Or, they might have all reached the same conclusion that the best power vs. fuel consumption vs. energy recovery formula works out to shift points at 12K except in Q3.
More like the turbo runs out of puff at 12k. What are the regulations on the turbo? Are they restricted or is it that a bigger turbo to supply flow up to 15k has too much lag. Actually it has to be the fuel flow, so yes, the engines are understressed... jeepers
Weird. Thank you jean todt and your fellow techno geek control freaks. I hope they get their sh*t together by the time I drain my bank account to see them at COTA.
Don't forget the 100kg/hr fuel flow limit. They would run out of fuel if they ran them at 15k rpm for the whole race. Plus the engines need to last for 4000km (up from 2000km). Too many rules introduced this year.
i was downstairs for the first 10 mins (open mezzanine), and i thought everyone was still in the garage....**** these things stupid quiet!
