The serial number was reset for the 25th but exactly what was the first - don't know. I thought it was either kla12001 or kla12002. The vin kla12003 claims to be the 2nd car.

The factory told the previous owner of my car that it was the first made, but I can't confirm it as Lambo did some silly things with vin #'s and the registry is all over the place. The suggestion was that it went to Middle Eastern Royalty that insisted on the color combo and having the first one...

Isn't 001 usually reserved for the "mule" or piece mealed prototipo? Usually they get junked, crash tested, the shell of the car is in the back 40 of the factory...

That would make AIR4C 1's car the true first Anniversario?

I've seen this car in person and it is one of the best examples that I have ever seen. The car cool factor is the ID plate is in Arabic, its a down draft and the car is an untouched 100% factory original with crazy low mileage...Wow.

It would be so cool to find out who ordered this car in the middle east....

It's nonsense that the VIN was ever reset with a model change, they never did that from 1982 on with the 18 Digit VIN.

    GLA12002 is mike's car from 1986, 5 after mine.
the last QV was KLA12424 in 1988, the earliest 25th mentioned is KLA12432, this went up till LLA12995, but suddenly there are some 1989 year numbers in the row, also this is typically Lamborghini.
It was randomly in 1989 around the turnover from 12999 to 12001 again that it felt together with the model year Change in August/September.

I always thought the time around 1980 was the huge mess, but when you look at 25th VIN's it's even worse, imagine KLA12085 is the last built 25th, there is no match with the real build year in the vin.

What is more confusing is that on the Registry for the Anniversario, there are cars Vin'd as 87? So not right...

I made no general statement re resets at model years. My comment was specific to the K model year. So, are you aware of a 25th with a vin # prior to kla12001 and what is the highest J model year VIN ie JLA12xxx?

I am surprised there are not any pictures of the first Anniversary coming down the line. I thought the factory or someone would have recorded that event ? Maybe there is and it's just tucked away somewhere.

Take note of the above pic and this pic.

Why did some cars leave the factory with US side markers while others left with Euro markers?

I thought ALL Countaches left with euro markers and it was up to the importer to have them US spec'd?

Cars destined for certain markets did have factory adjustments for that given market. The marker lights are just one example.

There were a small number of factory USA spec 2-valve cars. This is explained in depth in another thread.

That's a great picture. Would love to see one showing first Anni coming down the line. Maybe it's in Lambo archives somewhere ?

Exhaust tips don't look stock. The obvious side lights and yellow flash to pass lights indicate a non U.S. car. Being a DD, and non U.S., was there a alternate exhaust system for those cars?

The car looks great, love the front plate.

Thanks Joe. The tips seem quite shinny almost chromed and they don't appear to have the angled cut on the end.
