Do you know where I can get this rubber piece between engine and trunk compartment I have looked at superformance and dinoparts.de and nothing looks quite like it thanks for everyone's help ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Of course you'd see nothing like that...I think they only sell new stuff! I've seen several places that have trunk rubber. They all say it comes in 3 pieces; (2) side pieces and (1) piece that I assume must be the engine-trunk (or hinge end) piece. Dinoparts.de does have it... http://www.dinoparts.de/EN/ferrari-246-gt-gts/body-fittings/bonnets-more/edge-trim-boot-.html As does Superformance... Rear Boot Rubber 24604260 £34.95
Steve, I bought a set last week from a supplier here in Melbourne. I'm not sure where you are but I'm sure they'll post it out to you... www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/FERRARI%201970-74%20246%20GTB%20(DINO).htm
thanks everyone the dinoparts rubber piece doesnt seem like the same shape which is why I wanted to double check with you guys first. Maybe its just that badly worn. I am in Los Angeles, Ca
What about this seller? http://stores.ebay.com/Everything-Alfa_Ferrari_W0QQ_fsubZ1183079014QQ_sidZ292213494?_nkw=dino+246&submit=Search I have not used them, just seems to be showing an increasing number of trim items
The problem with that seller is that practically none of their items have an actual photo of what you're buying. I considered them too, but I don't like the idea of buying something w/o seeing a real picture so I know what I'm getting. The thought of buying, then finding out it isn't what was advertised and trying to return is a most unpleasant idea.
I was at Dennis McCann's place not too long ago and I am pretty sure he had a big spool of that rubber that just came in.
Looks like Matt at re-originals might have what you want. you can look at all his profiles here http://reoriginals.com/rubberprofiles.aspx or just search through his dino parts maze. DM
Call GT Auto Parts - talk to Bill here are some pictures - (sorry .. bad quality) The same seal should go on both sides of the "channel" between the engine and trunk... at least on the early cars Pietro Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've seen both this version with two flip out pieces of rubber on top as well as one with just a single flip that angles off the side. Which is correct? The trunk seal on my E-series '73 Dino GT is round with a single flip out both on the sides and between the trunk and engine bay. It seems every supplier offers something different (Superperformance states the U shaped seal, Dino Parts a single flip on the top, etc).
There are two edges between the engine and trunk compartment. I had a round seal on the trunk side, but nothing on the second edge near the engine. Was this unsealed? Most other Dinos seem to have nothing here, but some have the edge protection found in the front trunk as well as very rear edge of the trunk. This photo from the Dino Compendium seems to show the same round seal also on this inner edge with the single rubber lip pointed towards the trunk. The photo doesn't show how this seal fits along where the latch is, does it go behind the latch or is it cut into two pieces? Image Unavailable, Please Login
This unknown early chassis also has a rubber seal on the engine inside edge by the latch. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The image below is the profile that Cicognani in Italy supply for this piece of trim. This is their part number '16325180 ENGINE COMPARTMENT BORDER RUBBER SEAL' and costs 25 Euros plus shipping from Italy. They just sent me this yesterday and it took less than a week to arrive to the UK. I have more photos if anyone needs them. Their website is at http://www.cicognaniguarnizioni.it/en/ferrari Image Unavailable, Please Login
My car had the same rubber on both edges. I know mine had never been off and we original to the car. I also confirmed that with Rob and his research showed the same. As our cars are M cars I wouldn't be sure it was the same on later cars. Dario This picture was taken before I replaced the gaskets. Image Unavailable, Please Login
