What would you like to know about it?

This was (is) owned by John Peterson of New Jersey and he and I were corralled together at the 1999 Greenwich Concours. I last saw him and his car in 2009, also at the Greenwich Concours, picture below:

I would be interested in getting proofs that this one is the correct #35241.

Because a 5-speed 400i for sale in Europa at this moment has the #35241 identity, with correct vin plates on the steering wheel and in the engine bay

Well, I can say that the one I saw in 1999 and then again in 2009 was 35241 but a lot can happen to a car in five years.

One distinctive feature, I think, is the lack of a passenger side outside mirror. The locations of the side marker lights also are a bit unusual being lower on the body than what you see typically for a car that has been federalized in the U.S.

Also, there was a picture posted on here on FChat in 2008 that was taken at the Penn/NJ concours and stated that the mileage at that time was 76,700.

The car for sale is beeing in Europa for many years

Maybe John's car identity has changed when it was imported

We discuss here the same problem with #38429 renamed #35565 (the right one beeing in Europa !).

Never heard of that for a modern Ferrari. It was not uncommon to change s/n on Ferraris back in the 50's when people wanted to import a new car but used a number from an older car that had already been imported in order to avoid import duties.

Can you post a link to the ad with pictures?

Why would a seller want to keep it secret?

I've told you everything I know. Have you seen the car? What makes you think there is something funny going on?
