You guys have tempted me so bad that I have engaged a professional : ) Just called Chad @ EMG Cars in Arizona to start the research/hunt for me. I bought my 308 through him and was very pleased with the transparent negotiation and our similar philosophies on cars. I am too emotional about the car to do this properly.

He mentioned they have a 2011 458 Challenge car coming in the same price range - LOL! Not street legal though...little too extreme for me.

Oh man the bug is biting hard and there's still snow on the ground up here! Instructing can get pretty interesting and challenging with different personalities, car types, experience levels and so on, but its insanely rewarding when the driver gets into the zone and starts nailing aspects of the course properly with less and less feedback and guidance over the course of the session/day/event and we have a big **** eating grin on our faces. Its all about establishing trust and an understanding while having an objective.

I can't say enough positive things about my 458 driver last Aug during the FCA event! That was his first time to that track but he'd pushed the car prior and had a good feel for it so it was just a matter of getting him used to new tarmac and finding comfortable limits. By the end of the weekend, he was passing everyone in our group but Chad in his amazing 16M. Lets see... 5 weeks until the first green flag at RA....

It just got done snowing and is now in the high 40s...what the...working in garage with doors open - ha!

Yah I'm dying here...trying to button up the 308 so it is ready for the weather.

M3 is ready, but going in for some more track-focused suspension tuning and other goodies.

That is awesome that you enjoy it that much. All of my instructors seem to have enjoyed my driving as well, but all were able to make me better as well! Every one I've ever had!

    16M? Excuse me? Wow.

I signed up for my first track day at PIRC - 4/12 : )) It's no road Atlanta, but it has potential if the new investors follow-through. It has some nice elevantion changes and interesting highspeed turns on the back. You can get scared for sure : )

Chad is researching over the weekend and calling me back on Tuesday; this is not looking good for my pocket-book.

Yep! Just to clarify, we were in the 458 and the car we were chasing down was the 16M owned by Chad Teachdocs- who by the way was uber-fantastic out there! Then I was offered the Scud to put some laps in by another owner and the vid was done by my passenger. Too bad she didn't record the fast laps lol

Only asking $188K. Offer $178K and see what happens. IMO, if that is way too expensive, you might be waiting a long time before you get a Scud.

Yea if you really want one that is about what you have to pay... Anything below 178 to 175 there is something wrong with the car or high mileage off color combo something. Most people who own these cars now are not looking to get rid of them to buy the 458 etc. Most people who own these cars now are keeping them... That's why there are so few for sale. When I saw my car there were multiple people interested in the car it was only at the shop for 2 days. I wasted no time in making a deal. I am very happy with my purchase :)

Nah. I've already had offers to buy at close to 150k with more options than I need or want : )

At least 5 people have contacted me just from this thread. Don't get me wrong, these cars are AMAZING. I will be taking mine off the market permanently. But, they are not yet worth what they should be IMHO. They are not yet hard to get - at all. But, I also do not believe they will reach their true valuations for a long time.

You should be. But there are very good cars for 150-175k if you are patient and don't care about options or colors. If you don't care about a lot more (like me), then you can save even more. There are a lot for sale out there in the US. I think it is simply a reflection of the kind of owner right now - perhaps? Who knows...like I said, if/when I can get one, I will never sell.

If it were black or red or maybe another color, I *might* make an offer. It would not be close to that number though. I think the car is worth more than what I would offer, and I would tell the owner that.

I'm under no pressure to buy right now. In fact, I don't even have the lift in yet to store the car. I have all the leverage, not the market : ) I am willing to wait up to 18months or until my first deal hits - whichever comes first.

Is English your first language? Just curious.

Like I said. I have had multiple people try to contact me and sell me scuds below 175k. One recently did not sell on ebay w 20+ bids and was only at 121k IIRC.

Are you basing that on live auctions or something? I could see if you walk into a dealership. What data points are you using? Thanks.

For a "brand new" Scud - I can totally see someone paying 250k.

Maybe prices are higher in Canada?

This thread isn't about debating prices - I hope.

I will try to be as transparent about what I pay and the process as possible without compromising any parties involved or their possible future negotiations. Hopefully this will be of use to future members. : )

I just broke 10k miles today...I guess my scud is worth peanuts at this point...I can't believe 5k miles is still the benchmark for "low mileage" after my 3+ years of ownership...

I guess I will just have to keep the car...poor, poor me.

Hmmmm...I would seriously factor in a full repaint : O

No offense to those who like this...my M3 is actually a silver-blue.

I would do a dark blue all day!

Thanks VERY much for both data points!

Awesome! The instructors out here have GT3s that they kill the local track in...those are the fastest cars I've seen here locally. Also the vettes - but talk about boring...I don't think they have to shift! haha. I would guess I will see some serious stuff at mid-ohio. My thought is to trailer it behind the X5 to save my energy for the track and get to some tracks toward the coast.
