That is great. Nicely done. In the recent past somebody was doing something similar with a 355. I don't remember the thread though.
I saw this being built about a month ago during a private appointment. It's a 430 Challenge engine and gearbox. The reason for going with a Challenge engine and gearbox is because the F1Trac from the ordinary F430 setup was deemed to complicated to modify for use in the car. Very nice job. They've even retrofitted the F1 shifters to the original steering column. Yet another testament (amongst many) to the outstanding quality work DK Engineering do.
Shoehorning the engine is one thing, but dealing with all the electronics - I imagine - would be a total nightmare. Wont the 430's ECU need to talk to a transponder chip in the key and stuff like that? Nice job though.
Having both cars i can only ask WHY ? the 430 handles very well, where as the 348 feels very different to say the least ! The thought of a 348 with a 430 engine in it is scary !!
With nearly 500hp, it'd be scary enough to make a stripe on the inside never mind over the bodywork..
Wow!! Just wow!!! Thanks for the pics and info guys. In this case...............the engine/gearbox and labour would cost five times what the car is worth. Would have been cool if he did this work to a 348 or 355. Even a Testarossa would have been cool. But amazing work none the less, I am VERY impressed!
Everyone makes a big deal of the electronics, but in reality, the electronics are not all that tough. People always seem to make a bigger deal of the electronics over the mechanical. I would rather deal with the electrical than the mechanical. Mark
Engine harness and ecu, transmission harness and ecu, alarm delete..pretty much a plug and play set up electrically I would think, getting it all to fit nicely that would be the work.
As I said in my first post in this thread - they specifically chose the 430 Challenge engine and gearbox for a reason...
