TPMS failure

The batteries in the sensors have a life span of 5-7 years. Most likely your sensors are going bad
I just replaced the sensors on my 575.
I bought them from Tire Rack. There are direct replacements made by Beru, The same company used by Ferrari for a lot less cost.

The are $89 each. Go to TireRack.com and select WHEELS then add wheels for your 599 to your shopping cart. Then it will ask you if you want to add the TPMS sensors to the order, select yes. Then, go to your shopping cart and REMOVE the wheels from the order, leaving the TPMS items by themselves, then checkout. You'll have them in a few days, take to local shop and replace. Easy. I do this with my own 599. Then simply hold down the calibrate button once installed and you're good to go!

Oddly when I bought the replacement sensors from TireRack for my '07 F430, they could not be read by the control unit. I had to return them and buy the Ferrari part. So it may be a hit or miss thing.

 

I bought TPMS sensors for my MY05 430 from TireRack. I had to sync the system a couple of times before everything worked properly.

 

If they are talking, break down, install, remount, balance and re-calibrate that's probably about right. I had to get this done a little while back too on the 599.

Huf bought at least part of Beru, so the sensors may say Huf-Beru, Huf, or Beru.

 

My Ferrari dealer sent me Maserati TPM's, the exact same ones as Ferrari but saved me about $40.00 per sensor.

The Ferrari box is expensive!

 

Word of caution, if your old TPMS sensors are in or near your car (e.g., in a bag in trunk) it will screw up calibration.

 

Affirmative, toss them in the shop's trash, not in your trunk, or the system will try to talk to all of them, confusing it greatly.

 

But wait........there is more.....


So after I thought that my sensors where fixed the the front left sensor started to play up again!


And when the new clutch was installed Ferrari advised that it was the control unit on my sensors that required replacement.

So 3 sensors later and a control unit $1,500 in total. Now the stupid thing is fixed!

What a nightmare.

i'm assuming you can't just replace the battery in the sensors?

 

Nobody has tried yet that I have read about. Been done on alarm sirens, but those are not whirling around at X000 rpm, so probably not a good idea.

 

I bet if you could, the "special" batteries would cost almost as much as replacing the whole unit.

 

Paul- Not sure I would want something glued back together in my wheel with a potential of it spinning 10,855 rpm at top speed (8250/.76)
