My friend told me today that porsche has brought back a real targa not the stupid giant sunroof "targa" theyve had for the past decade. Has anyone scene it? I cant remember the last time i was this impressed and happy. Seeing this car reminded me of being a kid and excited about a new model car that i feel i must have.

Check it out this car is gorgeous! A real manual transmission of course (this is what kills my desire for any new ferrari). My only request is please make a rwd model.

it is a stunningly cool looking car....toss on a retro 60s/ 70s color like slate grey...red interior....new fuchs....that would be epic. And RWD only of course. Porsche is operating on a different level now.

Only the Germans could make a simple Targa roof idea so complicated. Should have done a roof arrangement like the 918 has...

Same here. Also in 10 years when that car will be worth $30k, if that roof mechanism fails it will total the car..

    Looks great.

I'm with you on the silver Targa bar. Although with the roof down it looks much better if you're looking at it without the fabric contrasting against the silver Targa bar. It looks very Retro Cool.

I would be very surprised if you couldn't option body colour, like Porsche did on the 987 Boxster's Roll Over Bars. If not, and if he really bugged you, I am sure someone could paint it for you.

agreed that was my one other gripe. nothing a good paint shop or tape shop can't cure though. I do worry about the mechanical roof down the road though.

Can't imagine it would be that much more expensive than the current convertible setup. Anything that breaks on a Porsche is going to be expensive.

Maybe Porsche will make a Targa R version with a manual roof and charge you $10k extra.

I like the silver bar, too. Really sets the lines of the car to show off the retro top rather than color-matched that would otherwise hide it. Really would love a Turbo Targa.

Agree that when the thing fails in 10 years on used cars, not worth to repair it. Yikes.

Have to differ. I think it is an embarrassing joke. I'd be surprised if they sold 10 of them.

    I think it's dumb.

The fact that a chick is operating it kind of sums up the type of car it is.

But the way things are going a TT Targa would likely not have a manual transmission. :(

Hard Top convertible Roof failure I guess would be the same as hard top convertible roof failure on the Cali, Cali 30, Cali T and the 458 Spider.

Silver is dumb, trying too hard to hark back to yesterday's targa. It could be black or body coloured and still be cool, and would be a fresh, modern take on the targa.

It would -- not sure they've done one of those since the air-cooled days.

All I can is is WHY? The Targa was originally made when Porsche feared the USA would outlaw true convertibles entirely. They share the faults of both a coupe and convertible; the top doesn't come down like a convertible and it's not as rigid as a coupe.
