In one corner I have some sofas where I can read or sit down and chat with friends that visit. Those are 246 cam covers on the wall, which I painted an incorrect red (but the magnesium was just too dull!).

And, finally, here is the view to the tiny pond and hill. It makes the garage a comfortable place for me to work on the cars or simply relax in.

My apologies for the overload of my garage. I thought some of you might find it interesting and give some ideas for your own garages, if you are building or remodeling. It has worked for me so far, and I really enjoy it.

    Best,

    Andy

No apologies necessary; very, very well done! Garages that are also working garages, and not just living rooms w/ cars in them, appeal to me. You have achieved a fantastic balance.

Your pictures are beautiful to look an Andy, I also enjoyed reading your thread on the Garage Journal. Perhaps you should post a link to the thread as I'm sure many others would enjoy it as well.

By the way, thats a beautiful companion you have in the shape of a Rottweiler. My first dog was a Rottweiler, you cannot get a better friend than that.

...and my garage like many has been a gradual evolution over the years. Heated floor, more space, better lighting, all on the wish/to-do list. I'm in awe of what so many of you have done, mine is merely a storage box among some truly spectacular settings shared here. one of my fave boards still

Thanks, Bryan, Kevin, David, Navdeep, Greg, all. I am glad you liked the garage. You will have noted the garage is actually quite simple. A rectangular shoe box, as the photo below shows (the roof is planted, which cuts down inside temperature by at least three degrees C). The walls are just plain white. It is quite easy to duplicate, if one were so inclined, or improve on.

I’ve had the Stratos for almost 40 years now, Kook. When I bought it, they were not expensive; you couldn’t give them away.

Bipolar, thanks. The garage and its contents pale incredibly with the garages on this board! Yes, Rottweilers are great companions and friends. I have one next to me now, as I write this.

    Best,

    Andy

Have to say that your garage looks amazing. Some have more cars and more space, but the design and simplicity of yours is close to perfect:).

Here is an idea perhaps some may find useful. To conserve space, I used these cabinets that run on tracks for my spare parts. They are for record files but are quite useful and compact for storage. I have a motley collection of old cars, so I used VIN tags to remind me where things are.

It's a great idea. Here in Australia the cabinets are called a 'compactus' unit and they are available for a dime a dozen at used office furniture sellers.

I use two in my garage that are only 900mm wide with 450mm deep shelves but they have each 7 bays of shelving. They take massive weight in spare parts as they are designed for volume storage or business records and archives.

Generally 1000 - 1500 bucks will buy a used setup in really good condition. Try this link to Ebay Australia for some examples:

    compactus | eBay

Take a look at this picture and you can see one of the six bay units right in front of the Testa.
