His post race interview he was :)
Hey Pap, according to f1: "Under 2014's revised regulations, any driver who is unsafely released not only incurs a 10-second stop and go penalty if they continue in the race, but also receives an automatic 10-place grid drop for the subsequent event." I reckon it's a bit over regulated personally.
I'm beginning to wonder if there even is such a thing as a lucky Australian F1 driver. I like Ricciardo though. I wonder if he's decided to get all of the bad luck out of his system early on in his Red Bull career so that he is unencumbered by it later on. All the best, Andrew.
Interesting that Ricciardo is already being asked to slow down to keep away from Vettel, and it appears that RB have already resorted to clever tactics to ensure this happens, ie. fluffing a pitstop so Ricciado is taken out of the picture. Who the heck would want to drive in that team? ... other than Vettel of course. Pete
Good opportunity to advertise his skill set to other teams, that is the only reason. Can't do that in a back marker team.
I really, really don't think that's what happened. They still want to win the WCC, it's worth many millions of dollars to do so. Messing up a pitstop like that doesn't help anybody. Most of the grid, I would say! And hey, if nobody else wants to, I'm free this weekend.
Yes it does, it helps Vettel concentrate on mounting a challenge to the car in front of him without having to worry about his new team mate upstaging him. Also usually the RB's are so good that you could delay Weber a few places and he would still podium, just not win. One day you guys will finally understand that the WDC is worth considerably more to the teams than the WCC money which only comes from Bernie. The WDC $'s comes from the sponsors and is enormous. They want a person to promote their stuff, not just a car Get your knee pads ready as you will need them while you "look after" Vettel Pete
and the evidence to back this statement up is where? You have the actual budget for say McLaren? It's motorsport. Things go wrong. The only conspiracies are between Bernie and his cronies. Vettel is a better driver today than Daniel, but undoubtedly Daniel has a big future.
I have previously provided the facts and figures on this site. Not doing that again. But it is a myth that the WCC pays more. Yes for back field teams with financial issues the WCC is vital because they are not in the position to attract major sponsors but once you are a serious team, the WDC becomes the focus for winning and financially. Fact is the fastest car and driver wins the WDC that is who the companies want to sponsor, not the boring consistent team. Pete
Christian Horner believes Daniel Ricciardo has already established himself as one of the best drivers in Formula One after his impressive start to life at Red Bull. Ricciardo spent a year at HRT and two at Toro Rosso before replacing the retired Mark Webber, but has not seemed daunted by a move to Red Bull alongside Sebastian Vettel. After watching Ricciardo beat Vettel on track in Bahrain, Horner believes any doubts about his ability to compete for a win this season have vanished. "He has been brilliant", said Horner. "From first practice in Australia he has been right there, driving extremely well, enjoying it, and he's always got a smile on his face, whether things are good or bad. "And his racing, if anybody had any question marks over his ability to move forward through the field, he has demonstrated he is right up there with the best." Coming into this season Ricciardo's highest finish had been seventh, but Horner feels Ricciardo is proof that results alone are not the best judge of talent for the guys at the back of the pack. "It demonstrates how difficult it is sometimes to judge drivers in inferior equipment because he has grabbed his opportunity and he is really making the most of it. Sometimes equipment does mask the potential of these guys. We knew he was good through what we saw in the testing he did with us, and in the simulator, but how good we weren't quite sure. But he's demonstrated he is absolutely top drawer." © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.

Very cool! If Daniel wanted to be a nice guy he could publicly thank his dentist - the dentist would be worth a fortune next day! Toothpaste sponsor maybe???? It's nice to see someone genuinely enjoying their job so much. Kid seems to have everything - hope his luck extends to the track, always.
You are likely right in a commercial team, but if the main sponsor owns the race team, as Red Bull does.. it probably doesnt make sense they would pay themselves bonuses for winning the WDC...
That's a very interesting point and one would have to think that a smiling take- it-on-the-chin guy like Daniel is exactly what they've been looking for. Webber just always seemed one of those whiney types to me - every loss was always someone else's fault. Even if it may have been technically true, I doubt it's the kind of look RB are after.
Webber was a damn fine driver who got shafted a LOT, but I think Daniel is the real deal ..... and Vettel will start crying soon
I think Daniel is very good too, but you are all forgetting that Vettel takes a long time to adjust to change. This happened in 2012 I think and Webber was destroying him until Vettel got to grips and then he pulled away as usual. So let's be patient and wait until Vettel has bedded in to these new cars and if Daniel is still beating him WOW! Webber was immediately quick in anything but not the quickest ... he shafted himself with the starts OR RB did that to him ... Pete
