Photos provided by Artcurial show a restamped block with a destroyed interno. Looks like a very early tipo 128/62E to me.

Do you know what happened to the motor after the sale?

Any history on how it got in there?

Dick Freshman purchased the car for the motor and re-united it with his car SWB S/N 2733GT.

4771 GT. The chrome vents, antenna in the middle of the windshield and polished Ferrari script in the valve covers are the identifiers. I haven't noticed the two red things behind the grill before. Electric fans maybe?

They're a distraction in that red, whatever they turn out to be.

Likely been with someone who spent a lot of time in Switzerland (or Sweden) as trumpets used to be forbidden there.

It was in Switzerland in 1986, then showed up at a show in Belgium in 2008. From late 2008 on, it was in Germany.

The first information I have on it after delivery was when it was in a Swiss Body Shop in 1986 and it was red at that time. The photos from the current sale show the dashboard and metal strips under the windows to be gray, which would indicate the car was originally gray. Maybe it was in the body shop in 1986 to be painted red.

I'm glad to report my third 250 GTE purchase of #3045. She is in very good shape and now parked in storage in S. California.

RM Auctions have advertised on their website that 3777 will be auctioned at their Monaco sale on 10th May.
The car is described as a series 2, despite the fact that to all appearances it looks like a series 3 (Position of driving lights, tail light cluster etc.)
I have a friend at RM and called him to point this out.
He, in turn, says that they have checked everything with Messini, who has confirmed that 3777 is a Serial 2 number. Series 3 started at 4093.
He therefore says that the car is in fact a Series 2, and he has no explanation for the Series 3 appearance.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

It is a 50-year-old fast car, what do you expect? I would presume the obvious.

Besides that tail light cluster isn't a Series 3. It is a Fiat 1200.

I will take a wild guess. the car was in a serious collision in the past. the owner decided to freshen up the look of the car during the rebuild and decided to update it to the series III specs. The tail lights dont look right for series III.

3777 is an old friend. First GTE I ever drove in 1991. I nearly bought it from Gary Thieltges, but bought my 308 instead as 3777 needed an engine rebuild and I didn't have the money. It was a a righteous car.
