Yes, maybe that is the case, however the team give orders for a reason, in this case I felt and apparently the team also did that Massa should have let Bottas have a go at reeling in Button and try to pass him, he ignored that request fair enough. I think the other thing to take into account before thinking by Massa relenting to let Bottas pass him and becoming a #2 driver, is that if Bottas hadn't passed Button he could have been quite easily been asked to let Massa regain his position, Bottas was faster at that stage and had been earlier in the race, hence Massa complaining about him, so I can see the sense in at least letting him have a go. How far you can push being above orders from the team and thinking you know better is debatable, personally I do not think it is the best way to go.
How far? If you're Seb and deliver championships, as far as you like. If you're Phil? That remains to be seen. This is not the way it "should" be but it's the way it is.
It helps when you know you have the head man with the purse strings on side. Other than that let the lunatics run the asylum..
Where is SRTMike when we need him? Massa has made so many mistakes in his career that pretty much everybody but a few die hard fans have turned against him. Probably by the end of this season the Williams team will join our group and Massa will take his millions to Marussia. Ferrari nurtured him way too long to the point where he actually started to believe the teams daily affirmations designed to boost his fragile self esteem.
