458 Speciale Revealed

In fact...This puts already the Speciale after just 4 laps, at 4th place and in front of the Aventador and F12 on that race track..Just after 4 laps..And we have almost a full week in front..

 

I thot the F12 is faster than the Speciale around Fiorano?

 

That was not an Independent test it was arranged by Ferrari
IMO they may have manipulated the results to favor F12

 

I confirm..it is my same idea.
The situation on Vairano race track is the one described below. From what is already evident looking at the screenshot posted before, the Speciale after only 4 laps is already faster than many other cars there. The fastest car , the Lamborghini, really got an huge advantage by the race tracks tires (5.000 euro for a set is the cost) so I would not consider that lap time too much. My guess is that in the next days the Speciale and the tester will make a better lap time, closer to the Radical and the Mp4-12c spider or even below them..

I am impressed because to be around 3 second faster than the 500 hp Porsche gt3-RS 4.0 on a short race track as this one, means something to me..

 

Were the tires road legal or not?

 

just translating what Quattroruote wrote about those tires :
"the tires made the difference and they are homologated for road use but Lambo recommends the use on race track"..

 

Alright, thanks. I guess that makes the time a little more legit, but still unfair. If they were track only tires then the time should be invalidated IMO.

Anyone know specifically what sort of tires were fitted? Something similar to R888's?

 

How come Mp4-12C spider faster than 12C coupe?

 

I've got a seaside condo in Arizona going cheap....

 

Faster figure is after power upgraded to 625hp sometime in August/September '12.

 

Can you tell us which dealer this is please?

 

Hard to imagine a Scud is more than 1s faster than a GT3 RS 4.0...

 

Lots of 650S first drives today in the news. Consensus says it is better than the 12C. Expect PLENTY of Speciale - 650S - GT3 tests sometimes in the early summer...

Thanks. They look they're exceptionally quick tires judging from some comparison tests I read online.

 

Every track is different and the Vairano track is very twisty, not favouring the bigger, more powerful cars. I believe that a Speciale is quicker round a twisty track (agility advantage), whereas the F12 is quicker round a faster track (straight line speed advantage).

 

I see your point - But one has to be a little suspicious about the Fiorano results

 

Don't joke, if a big enough quake comes, it might just become seaside. Bet it won't be cheap tho

 

Do you know where this was spotted? Crystal Cove? Somewhere in Newport Beach?

 

Quattroruote tested an F12 with PZero.
Equipped with Michelin Pilot SuperSport or better with Cup2 the F12 can easily lap more from 0,5 to 1 second faster.
Anyway I suspect something happened in Vairano.
QR tested the MP4-12C Spider (upgraded to 625hp) and it was about 2 seconds faster than the coupe tested a year and half before.
German magazine tested the upgraded MP4 spider in Hockenheim and Sachsenring finding no better times than the not upgraded Coupè
More QR tested the C7 stingray in Vairano last month and the car lapped fast as a 458 / 430 Scuderia ...
I don't know maybe new QR tes driver Fugazza is faster than the previous (M. Giani).
