Hey Rob, is it only you and me that have hoists in our garages ?

The GT4 and QV lived on the hoist but the 355Ch is always being driven

Dunno John, maybe we are two of just a few Aussies that have them. I have three here.

Red Testa lives on top of the 69 Mach 1.
Blue Testa lives on top of the 56 Thunderbird
Pantera lives over the 56 Buick Wagon
Leaving two spare spaces for the lexarse coupes.

I recently also purchased a mobile single post hoist which I can move around the garage for lifting up others as required.

Thanks, Dave, John, Chas. Yes, they are called ''compacter" shelves or cabinets and are not overly expensive. As Robert pointed out, they can be found used. Chas, I live in Manila, so my pricing would probably not be relevant to you, but the supplier did install them. That was not a difficuIt job.

    Regards,

    Andy

Bernie, It's VERY busy. I have been collecting the c**p for over 40 years! Wife will not let any of it in the house.

I've stopped collecting a while back and my garage is STILL under renovation. My stuff (frames, swag, banners, license plates, decorative car parts) is still in boxes.

    Sigh....

Dave, When I was a kid (growing up in Sandringham JHB) I dreamt of having an office wall made up of display cases, glass on both sides, between my office and my garage.

Manu thanks for the PMs. As requested, here is a view of the work area. The parking area is just beyond the Porsche. It is not a large space, and the work I tend to do there now is mostly maintenance and small repairs. But I have restored a car in smaller quarters!

Yes, the blinds close. They are supposed to filter UV, and the glass windows themselves transmit less heat and UV than standard glass, or so the supplier said. Here is how they look. I hope the bareness of the place does not freak out many many. The absence of stuff helps me feel organized, although that is often not the case!

    Regards to all.

Andy, your parking area has large white tiles whereas the work area appears to have an epoxy finish. Why did you choose 2 different floor coverings?

Bipolar, I prefer tile, especially the large pieces that tend to look simpler overall than smaller pieces. However, I thought that large tiles might not take the jack stands, rolling jacks, etc., of a working garage too well. So I used epoxy for the work area. I had used epoxy with good results in an earlier shop. In retrospect, it may have been possible for me to use tiles throughout, with probably cut-outs for the lift posts.

However, when car friends visit the shop, it is the epoxy floor that attracts them. I think that is because the epoxy floor is plain white and shiny, and anything placed on it stands out, as this now-vintage rollcab.
