A friend of mine has decided to sell his low mile, pristine condition but not serviced 348 but can't find the keys. What is the easiest way to get a key for the car? Can this be done by a locksmith? Am I safe to assume no immobilizer on the 348?

Once we get the keys, he will have me post the car on FChat for sale for him. I don't have all of the details yet but it is a red/tan spider. With very low miles (I believe about 8,000) but the car has not been driven or services n about 7.years.

It would be well worth the trouble to try to find the original codes from FNA.

I have had (after five different tries) a locksmith successfully "feel" the lock and make a key that functioned, but it failed not long after when a shop snapped it off flush.

When I pulled it to a Lock & Safe shop, they pointed out the "back and forth" rocking of the blank to mark the pressure on the key shank had all but destroyed the bores that the springs and followers reside in..

Keep looking or find the codes.

I never did find the set I lost.

Pulling the cylinder and taking it to a safe company they can reorder the whole lock and make a key to match.

    Pull it.

348's done have an immobilizer built into the keys.

I'd do as Tex suggested if you can pull one of the tumblers.

Go to a competent locksmith, and the blanks are Ilco X152 FT46. Very easy and cheap to replace. Expect under $.80-$2.00 /ea for the keys + ~$5 for a rekey ONCE you have the original or tumbler sorted out. You may need to bring a title/ID to show proof unless a locksmith comes out to the house / barn / warehouse.

No imobilizer obd1. If keys not found you can buy a key set that includes the door locks so one key will start car and open doors. It may be faster to but a keyset than try and get anything from ferrai

the 348 door locks cant be opened up, they are a throw away part. A good locksmith could make a key to it without needing to open the lock but not an easy job. For doors just install remote locking, no key needed for them

Just trying to get a key so he can sell the car and the new owner can determine what they want to do with the locks from that point. He needs to be able to open the door and turn the ignition key (but not starting it as the car has not been run in 7 years). Just looking for suggestions for the simplest and quickest way to get a key. He realizes that he doesn't have the time or desire to have the car serviced and just wants to sell it.

Call Ferrari of (insert closest major city here) and give them the serial # of the car, and they can order one for you. They will likely want a driver's license of the owner or some sort of proof.

I live in Canada, and when I requested a new key all they asked me for was a copy of the title and my driver's license.
