Congrats! That is a very sleek looking car and a definite upgrade in terms of refinement and technology. What are your thoughts between the two?

How come u didn't sell the 355 private party instead of trading it in?

It's a 2012 so it's R-Tronic. The transmission is a little slower than I expected but much easier to drive than the 355 F1. The 355 F1 is great but you really need to drive it like a true manual transmission car. You can drive the R8 just like an auto if you want to. I haven't done that much yet though.

The sound of the R8 V10 is nothing compared to the 355 though. I had Fabspeed cats and a Nouvolari muffler. The sound was incredible.

I got out of the 355 because it was time for another annual service plus and I was tired of spending so much money and the trouble of getting it to the shop, waiting on it and then having to arrange to pick it up. It was nice for a couple of years and I got the Ferrari bug out of my system. I was just ready for something a little less high maintenance.

In Texas there is a 6.25% tax benefit to trading in. Also I didn't want to spend much time getting this all done. I was able to unload 2 cars in one night. Maybe I could have made a few thousand more going private party but the time required to do that was not something I wanted to do.

That's a hard choice to contest. Still, I would not have called it "I'm Out". Sounds negative. Moving on would have been more appropriate. Of course, it was a 355 so I can understand that sentiment. ;)

Yep, it wasn't meant to be negative. I'm glad I had the 355 for two years. I have a hard time keeping a car longer than that.

I have a friend who just bought his third 360 and during thsat period had a lotus and a testarossa. This is with a vette and some sort of 911 in his garage.

He says he's keeping this 360 . I doubt it. Some just change cars more often than others.

Best wishes on your new toy

The line about the annual service struck a cord. I just did my biannual service and changed all fluids myself. I know the annual service is a grand in most shops. Those kind of numbers can wear on your enjoyment .

I thoroughly enjoy getting under my car and futzing. If you don't like doing that or can't the fear and bills could really turn some off.

Nice trade! Do not think there are any disapointments with an R8, looks sweet! I was thinking about what is next on the list beyond ferrari.. gallardo, pantera, maybe muscle cars. Sometimes that next car finds you and it is much too hard to sell the others.

The R8 looks like a Xmas tree with lots of twinkly bits (and fairy lights) to divert your eyes from the fact it's not a ferrari especially not a ferrari as pretty as a 355.

Love it, R8 and Gallardo both float my boat (along with the F355). I know my GF's son would love it if I swapped my F355 for an R8.

AWESOME looks like a lot of fun, Love the trade. I also sold my 355 and haven't looked back. The top down exotic experience is versatile, be it in a Ferrari, Lambo, R8 etc. Congrats and enjoy it.

That's a good looking R8.. I too sold my 355 and have yet to replace it although I must admit I miss the Ferrari often and find myself still thinking about maybe a 430 or 458.

Thanks for the compliments. I love this car. This is my 6th Porsche and my 2nd twin turbo. I did like my Ferrari, but love the Porsche. This car is so much fun to drive with the 6 speed manuel transmission. By the way congratulations on the beautiful R8. Good choice.

I traded my 550 a month ago for a 2014 Turbo, and at first I thought I made a huge mistake, but after a month of ownership, while I do miss the 550, and will someday own another one, or at least another Ferrari, I am falling in love with the turbo. It's so easy to drive, and fun to drive, and the PDK is awesome, I am glad I made the trade for now.
