Ferrari Needs Ross Brawn !

In my opinion Flavio is a scammer. Ok, maybe he is excellent in what he does but....when i think about the crash-gate scandal.. I read some comments on FB like'' Briatore is a leader'' and bull**t like this. So far so good BUT a leader would never 'cause' a scandal like that one back in Singapore.

 

He may be a scammer, and a bit of a rogue sometimes, but he got the job done, again and again.

Briatore is a motivator and a smooth operator. You don't get these qualities out of university. Coming from nowhere, he brought a breath of fresh air in F1, and I still miss him.

Briatore never had the budget or the technical team other teams enjoyed. He never complained about that and instead he beat them regularly. He was very good at obtaining a lot with very little resources. A man who knows how to chase the pennies and make the most of them.

I don't think he would fit at Ferrari, if he ever wanted to go there.
For a start, I can't see him putting up with LDM's arrogance...

 

Do we need Brawn, or do we need someone to figure out what the heck is wrong with the Ferrari engines?

 

Same could have been said for Massa.

 

Thats the crux of the issue. But they need someone like Brawn to kick people into figuring out whats wrong. He is the ideal person to do it as he has an engineering background and an analytical mind.

Its an engineering issue and requires engineering solutions.

I dont think its a matter of figuring out what's wrong with Ferrari engines but figuring out what's right with the Mercedes engine.
(I'm going to continue to call the "PU" an engine till they pry the term from my cold dead hands )


Look.. one of the suppliers had to do it better than the others.
The fuel flow limiter IMO was supposed to be the great equaliser.
It might have been except for Mercedes ability to use fuel more efficiently via a cooler intake temp. Add their work on ERS and you have the complete package.
All is not lost and pointing fingers gets nothing done.

 

At this point a miracle is what they need. May be with Mercedes engines in the cars that would be a good starting point.

 

Ferrari is missing someone that can get out of the car and tell the mechanics and technicians what is wrong. None of the drivers at Ferrari in the last 8 years can do this. Why do you think the Mercs are so good now?

 

A driver would not be able to tell them why the Merc engine is much more powerful and efficient.

The problem is, the people at Merc HPP thought outside of the box and the Ferrari and Renault designers didnt. They came up with the devolved turbine/compressor.

Ferrari are wedded to a number of suppliers, some of which have their names on the side of the car. So for example Ferrari will automatically go to Magnetti Marrelli for an MGU-K or other electrical part as they are a team partner.

Merc will either design themselves or get something designed by the best supplier available. Having 400 people in Brixworth and the resources they have means they dont need to rely on whatever a supplier gives them.

 

I don't think the Mercs are so good primarily of because of drivers feedback. It's gotta be more than that.

Mercs are good because of their design, etc. Michael Schumacher race in a Merc too, and arguably he's the best when it comes to providing feedback. So there you go...
