Anyone currently have their 348 engine out for the major or something else? I'm trying to determine the size of the fuel vapor line connector so I can source new ones. I'm hesitant to pull mine off as they are already broken and I'd like to still be able to drive the car. Right now mine are held on with zip ties and I still get some odor with a full gas refill. Here's the thread I started with details of what I'm seeking within the dorman line to replace them. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/412417-source-parts-vapor-lines.html Thanks in advance. David
Well hello new best friend! Lol Can you look at the connectors which go to the fuel tank vapor lines? I think we can source them from my other post but I need some dimensions if you wouldn't mind measuring. Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
I should be able to do that, though not likely tonight as I will be out all night. Should be nice and easy to get to with no pesky engine in the way.
OK, here is what I got. Hope it is right. Please pardon the crude measuring. I can go back and do more specifics if you need. Hopefully I got the right info for you... the first one is a close up of the connector and the writing is TX8 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You da man! Now to my evil scientist lair to see if I can figure out the fitting! Thanks so much! Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
Glad to help. Already so many others here have helped me out. It is the least I could do. If you need any other measurements, let me know the specifics and I would be happy to do it.
one other question... what is the diameter of the nylon tube itself? inner and outer diameter... we're getting close!!
I don't think I could get the inner. I'd have to cut the hose to find out for sure. The outer should be easy though.
so I think this is it. Dorman Products - 800-082 I ordered a pair today and will let everyone know once I get them next week. Many thanks for the help!!!!!
update... there is no way one can push the 800-802 into the existing tubing. I tried to stretch that bugger and no go... it's almost like it's shrink wrapped to the darn thing. So I am going to use the 800-802 and just replace the whole line with new 3/8" fuel line and put clamps on the ends. Dorman does make a chrysler fuel kit repair line which runs about $20 that "might" work, but the 3/8 line which goes to the vapor thingie (sorry best word) does fit it very tight so it would need a clamp anyhow. I'll install using my method and then photo it and the chrysler piece and post up. At least it's a workable solution. The darn thing stinks when you fill it up.. and I'm sure it's a fire hazard with all those fumes.
Not really now that I'm into it. Old connectors are about .25 in deep before they bottom out on the male end of tank. New ones are nearly .5 in. I may just use clamps at both ends and no push on connector. Someone has to make this thing. Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
So I pulled off the 2 O - rings on the firewall... now I can push the connector down the whole way and it seems snug. Mobilized reply by Dahveedem

Ok.. this is still a work in progress. So the lines are 8mm (5/16) and I'm pretty sure the male end of the tank is 10mm. I tried a brake flange to get the 8mm line on the connector.. no go.. so I broke down and splurged on the Dorman repair tool. Should have it next week and will update everything then. Hard to believe no one else's are like this... Will update next week. For now I have 3/8" on them with clamps.
Yes I did! Darn won't expand enough to over the new connector. Busted my finger trying. Hopefully the dorman tool makes it easier. I'll start making them for folks if it does work and I get the sizes right. No point in all of us buying the tool. Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
No luck yet. I bought the dorman tool but have been unable to get the 5/16 hose on the 5/16 connector. So I kinda gave up on it for now and just put on regular fuel lines and clamped them in place.
So you are having trouble getting the hose on to the fitting? Or is the fitting not working on what it's supposed to connect to? A little gentle heat to the end of the hose would make it more pliable and potentially easier to force onto the fitting. Even if this type of hose shrinks when it's heated, there should still be window in which it's pliable enough to manipulate over the end of the fitting.
The hose onto the fitting. I tried all sorts of heating methods and none of them worked to allow me to push the fitting on to the hose. Also.. it seems like the 3/8 (10mm) is a bit too big for the male ends out of the fuel tank and the 5/16(8mm) is too small for the fuel tank ends. it's too bad my friend and his 3d printer can't print something for the connectors... or I'd have him scan them and print. I'm kinda stuck at this point.
