Anyone have suggestions or experience to recommend a quality radar detector for the 458. Talking about an internal installation. Thanks.

I saw a Valentine incorporated into the rear view mirror of a California. Looked like a really nice package. Anybody know if that can be installed in the 458?

Passport 9500CI works the best. I have the K40 in my 458 Spider & the Passport in my 911TT
I keep the k40 off most of the time because it's so annoying.
(The FCar dealer recommended K40 ) The passport is much more advance with the technology.

If you are really in love with the V1 then get that plus a blinder install for radar. Otherwise the Escort is really the best.

I'm planning to have the Bel Stir Plus and ALP laser jammers installed in mine. I suggest you get laser jammers installed because laser speed guns will make your radar detector worthless. Also do your own research to find out which detector and laser jammers are the best. Technology changes so fast the former champs most likely no longer hold that title.

I've been a Valentine One user for 12 years now. The ability to do (mild) programming and the arrows are what have kept me a loyal fan. However, since getting my S7 with blindspot detection, the V1 would constantly go off. After reading a whole bunch of review on Amazon I settled in on an Escort and my only real requirement was for it to be one that supported their Live network. I ended up buying the SmartRadar because it allows you to mount the detector behind the mirror out of site and then you just have a small little display (which I mounted to the top of the mirror). I'll snap a photo of it later and upload it, but it's a really slick install. Just ordered 3 more for the remaining cars.

What is really cool about the Live network is that it uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone and then there's a moving map which shows user reported police as well as more detail about whatever radar is going off at the moment. You can also mute the sound from the radar detector by just touching your phone screen. A pleasant surprise that I hadn't seen documented anywhere was that the even though you connect via bluetooth to the detector, your phone also connects to your cars bluetooth for calls. (iPhone does at least). That is what made me convert the other cars as well.

I'll tackle installing them in the F's this weekend and try to remember to take photos. Hoping I can find 12V in the overhead lights somewhere.

Attached is a screenshot of the Live network and what it looks like zoomed out a bit. Quite a lot of users in Mass.

    V1 saved me (again) today.

Going thru a small town in Utah a sign with radar showed your speed. Limit was 40mph. V1 showed 2 bogies ahead. Sure enough a couple of blocks later there was a city cop hidden on the other side of the road.

I used the V1 for years but my 458 came with a Passport 9500CI. It's not even close. The Passport is light years better. Virtually false alert free and it learns on the fly.

Although I'm not a Ferrari owner (yet...) I have the Passport 9500 CI and have nothing but good things to say about it. A few friends of mine have V1s and they work well too, but the cleaner install options are what led me to the Passport and as far as I can tell it doesn't sacrifice any functionality

Ditto on the K40. I have it in my 458 and it is virtually useless. For an integrated system, the 9500CI is by far the best. For an external system either the V1 or Passport Max are very good.

Thanks so much for all your posts guys. I also agree that the K40 is useless. Unfortunately it was already installed in one of my cars when I purchased it.
    Thanks again,
    Tom
