    Because it was Special Project number 12. I have seen the car, it IS a V8. And Richie, I can assure you categorically there is no mini LF power train in the next 458, LDM has clearly said so. Just answer why they would make a V8 T just for the Cali unless they were trying to make less money out of each car in total contradiction to their recent claim.

    Maserati is making an SUV and they use more ferrari V8 engines than Ferrari does and then theres the replacement for the California T...Ferrari wants to sell less cars to be more exclusive but make more money so production will get cut down but MSRP and options will go way up and the best way to justify all that is with green tech more CF options and whatever other magic they come up with. I wouldn't get excited about paying more for just turbo.

    That's just how I see it.

    Well, what can I say. I don't know if you have any factory connections or inside information, but all I can say is that with reasonable sources, no way, yet, will any form of KERs make it into their top selling model. So far it is unreliable, overheats and giving them headaches. And as they have stated many times, it is very expensive. I understand your logic, I am just trying to give you fact, not just supposition.

    As I said before, you can take a horse to water.....

    They will say anything to get you off their trail...notice the timing of when "spy shots" start popping up lol time will tell and I'm currently happy, I won't buy a new car for about 4 years anyways.

    That doesn't make any sense to me, Why would any dealer get such accurate set in stone information so far a head of time and the only reports of a Turbo in the media sudggest that the 458 replacement will be a V6 Turbo lol when things could it's not like the dealers have to build a new type of show room if the engine is different for then to get accurate information like that lol it is not that serious.

    I'm so puzzled and confused with this issue, after 9 months of waiting for my 458 Spider, now is a turbo and more power & perhaps a lot more torque and newer style body on new 458 for next year! As much as I love this car heartily don't know if I should go a head and complete this deal in 2 weeks.Heart & love vs mind and logic. Friendly advice would be much appreciated.

    Lol take comfort in that you can enjoy your Spider for about 4 years before you'll have the oportunity to take home a completely new model. If you keep worry anout the latest you'll be waiting forever because the moment you buy the new thing they're working on the next thing.

    Don't try to time the Ferrari market- get what you like- it will be outdated soon enough. There are up and down sides to buying at all points in the process.

    Backing out on this deal will Not get you ahead of the line on the replacement model
    Plus the current spider is amazingly fast even too fast for most drivers out there

    Ferrari hypercars are so advanced that the rest of the range catches up with them 10 years later. By that time another hypercar is launched. Ferrari know better than upstaging their halo model! Simply put, there is an established hierarchy and that's the proper thing to do!

    Hmm Lamborghini stays N/A with the Huracan, Mclaren equivalent has tons of torque and likely soon to be 700hp.

    I'm guessing 458 replacement will be 5000cc V8 N/A, 650bhp, 450lb ft and called...

    Well it won't be F625 due to the mac 650s. 505 and 508 sound like Peugeot's. So I guess they'll go historically significant, albeit of a four pot, and go with F500.

    Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari S.p.A CEO, explained in an interview (today printed in a German magazine), that actually the LaFerrari hybrid technology is not applicable in a high volume Ferrari model, too expensive and too heavy. Just the electro technology costs ca. Euro 60'000.-. Additionally to calculate are the costs to compensate the high weight (ca. 150 kg) of all these components.

    "...to use this technology on a broader level we have to wait for a leap forward in battery development, and signs of this are not present yet."

    He pointed out that it was foreseeable that also Ferrari has to bring turbo engines. "At this juncture it's clear that the Ferrari DNA may not be destroyed. But todays turbo technology allows an engine characteristic which is equivalent to a naturally aspirated engine, high torque at high rpm".

    Too expensive ? just like the carbon fiber excuse lol Wow so how does BMW, Lexus, Mercedes & VAG do it in cars that cost less than a 100k ? You can even get a version of Kers system on a peddle bike.

    It sounds more like they want to innovate as slowly as possible and milk its customers.
