Do you mean "Calling ALL Ferrari Owners in the GTA"? Since the forum Canada region covers several thousand kms and those of us a few thousand kms away from the GTA will have a tough time getting out to your events, it would be helpful if you could specify your region in your event subject lines. Please! I'm looking forward to my first driving season with my 308... in Alberta.
Gordon what does this mean: Quote by Sadi "Between many GTA drives, events and meets....you will be amongst friends and other Ferrari owners." Ok maybe it wasn't in the subject line, but really 2 of my fellow Albertans have hijacked this thread?!
No offense to Sadi here and I would not single him out because he is not the only one. Seems like several Toronto Fchatters consider the Canada section as "their own". Seems like they rather start a new thread instead of putting in into the Ontario thread. Not sure why that is? Anyway, just want to emphasize the point but defend Sadi at the same time that the Toronto area fchatters should start new threads for major announcements or for topics of interest to all canadians. The following threads should also apply since the subject line does not specify it's for the Toronto area (Sorry I can't bring myself to call it the GTA, just like I refuse the words Grande, venti, etc....at Starbucks. It annoys me!): http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/444821-looking-new-car-insurance-company-any-suggestions.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/443279-lets-bring-back-thursday-exotic-euro-night-paloma.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/443581-where-did-all-ferraris-go.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/442936-nice-start-car-season.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/442130-who-has-360-performance-tricolour-italian-stripe.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/canada/433335-unity-automotive.html Of course, it's understandable that the Ontario folks have the most people and the most cars so it's 100% normal that they would have the most posts and the highest amount of fchatters but still, the yard belongs to all of us and we all come to play here. Please don't take this the wrong way....it's being said as constructive, not to attack anyone.
I believe most will figure out in the content that it not related to the region and wont chime in. Having the region cover the whole of Canada gives the opportunity of folks out of that regional province visibility to other region or provinces. Hence all the Toronto folks that went up to that special event at Montebello. I had a few folks from BC and Atlantic region join up in some of the events in the GTA because of the visibility of this Region - Canada as a whole. Breaking up the Regions would prevent some of this visibility as I would not be browsing BC or Quebec if I did not have a specific reason to go into those regions. So yes maybe we were lazy and didn't think it would offend some that all the thread was not preceded by "GTA" or "Toronto". That was not the intent. And to actually think that we are "the center of Canada" and "their own".. comon...thats just funny. We just like spreading and sharing some info.
Well said, and for the record: I don't think anyone here feels like it's done "on purpose" or to "offend". There's a lot of great people in the Ferrari community across Canada and it's great for us to have a place to come together to share the passion. It's also true that there is a lot more participation and collaboration between groups, clubs and car shows now. Especially between Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal. Unfortunately, the other major cities are a little too far west and make the drive almost impossible in this great big land of ours. It's also hard to communicate effectively sometimes when it's via a keyboard and non-verbal. Too often, things are taken the wrong way and a person gets judged completely unfairly and it's too bad because it derails the conversation and it always turns to negativity instead of the intended constructive objectives. It's also important to politely and respectfully let someone know if something is bothering you because if you don't, they'll keep doing it and will have no idea they're irritating you.
I don't find this offensive, nor with any malicious intent. I simply read it as someone sharing information for anyone that is interested. Anyone that takes offense to this needs to grow up.
Just reread post #1 to post #7 No one there said anything about being offended and no one said anything about being malicious. Why the attack? Can't anything be discussed? People can give their point of view and come to an amicable resolution, is there any way that this can be achieved on fchat or does everything need to turn to ****?
I think we should have a Toronto only section Other areas do not really matter!!! > > > > > > > relax............. just breaking cogliones
As the first (in this thread) to request that the location be added to an event announcement (and I even said "Please!"), I will echo Fab's clarification that no offense was taken nor intended with my comments, nor did I voice any "Centre of the Universe" criticisms . My suggestion was intended to be constructive to make it easier for Canadian forum members. It's easier for one thread author to include a location mention in a subject line than for a hundred forum readers to have to open the thread to see if the event is accessible to them. It's a polite courtesy that we Canadians are famous for! I wish I could attend some of the interesting events offered in the GTA (I can say it, but like Fab I will NOT say "Grande" etc at Starbucks.)
Mmmmm, passion I like it.....I wish we drove our cars as much as we spent reading posts and commenting about them ! Alberta, which is my second home because of the time I spend in Fmac, Edm, Calgary and Grande Prairie .......you are welcome to join us......and I assure you, visiting the Gta during some of the main events with your car......is a must do....as is being in Edmonton for the Indy.......I suggest you add this to your bucket list.....and I would be more than happy to help ...
LOL Amazing thread. Anyways, hope you are well Sadi. It is too bad this thread took such a turn. As you said, hope all are enjoying their cars more than commenting like this.
I personally like to read both Ontario and Québec thread because from where I am, Montréal, Ottawa or Toronto are all the same distance.
I was able to attend for my first time one of Saturns Drives yesterday for meet, cruise and BBQ afterwards and I brought an enthusiast friend of mine for company, we both had just an awesome time, met a lot of great people and the 1.5hr cruise was no doubt the best time we have ever had in a car!!! Hope to be part of many more!
