The handbrake console for my '96 355 spider is really beat up, torn, missing some areas of leather. Could use a good condition used one. I would even consider a non-spider one if it is known to fit in the same space (I know it wouldn't have the place for the tool kit, but that isn't a big deal since I don't have the tool kit anyways).

    thank you,

    Rick

I know the spider one has a strip of something like Velcro to hold the emergency top tool kit. But if I don't want/need to put the tool kit on this console piece, will it be OK to use one from a non-spider car?

Yes that is the only difference I'm aware of.

I've already removed it. I basically stripped out the centre console, seats, brake console, rear carpet....all to diagnose why my convertible top didn't work. I think I've finally sorted that out (there is another thread about this that I'll continue soon). The funny thing is that when I bought the car the engine lid release didn't work; there was a piece of wire up under the bumper to pull to release it. So I removed the brake console to see what was going on. The release cable was in place, nothing wrong with it that I could see, when I pulled it with a pair of pliers the lid released just fine. The only thing wrong was the loop at the end of the cable wasn't slipped into the pin on the release handle. Just one of the many mysteries with this car.
