This is very true that (called a peri-prostetic fracture).
It is very unlikely that they would remove the nail after the fracture healed (but I don't work with elite level athletes, so who knows).

What I can (and do) imagine Silva doing is recovering, training, and fighting Roy Jones Jr!!!
It's the one challange he's said he has wanted, and could totally do this with his leg fixed. Makes sense to me...

I just recently read that Jones Jr. is now talking about Nick Diaz..........

Am I the only one here who couldn't give a rat's a$$ about the UFC event taking place this Saturday from Singapore? The only name I know on the card is Tarec Saffiedine - everyone else on it is completely unknown by myself. It is the 1st UFC event since I have been following MMA that I will make no effort to see........

Yeah, this might as well be some unknown regional fought organization for all I care.
I like UFC because they have already vetted out the fighters, but with this new plan it's like they want you to watch the d-league.

Cruz is out of fight with Barao, and belt has been stripped from him. Faber is taking the fight on short notice against Barao. The way Faber has been looking lately, with the addition of Ludwig to their camp, I hope he comes out on top. Can't wait for this one.

Faber has looked great lately. I think he's got a real good chance against Barao this time.

    Stopped a bit short IMHO.

Local boy Nick Catone wins one, so not too bad, but you have to feel for Faber. Barao is a bad ass though.

I have Cablevision / Comcast and set my dvr to tape the Fox show from 8 to 10:10, that's ten minutes after its supposed to be over. My dvr stopped in the middle of the third round. WTF? This happens to me all the time it drives me nuts! I've missed the end of so many fights because of this damn dvr I'm almost ready to call Direct Tv and go satellite. Anyway who won the main event and how?

Bummer.... that headliner was awesome. It went to a decision. I won't spoil it, but from watching the first couple rounds it's not hard to guess who won.

I always set mine to go an hour beyond what is scheduled......

Werdum won an incredible fight. That guy is the real deal, and I have felt that way ever since the UFC released him the 1st time many years ago. I am glad he is back in the UFC and finally getting a chance to really show how good he is. There is no HW better than him on the ground, and his striking is vastly underrated.

He will have his hands full with Cain though.......

Welcome back Dan, This thread isn't so active without you!
I was VERY impressed with Werdum last night. I look forward to watching him vs Cain. I think it'll be a good match up.

I can say the same about you! Where have you been? This thread has been too quiet.

How about Cowboy Cerrone? He looked like he was having his hands full, and then a sick KO. I love Cowboy, and hope he can climb his way to title contention.

    Pretty good card overall.

What did you think of Bisping/Kennedy? I watched that whole card except for that fight, which I am looking forward to watching tonight.

Anybody think Jon Jones might be in for a fight tomorrow night? Glover is undefeated....might be worth the PPV.

He under performed against Guf and sure does not seem to be taking this fight all that seriously, so I can see an upset as a possibility. The Vegas odds as very heavily favoring Jones. I'm seriously considering calling some family I have in Vegas to put some money on Glover.

Ain't gonna Happen... Jones ain't losing! BUT... I've NEVER been right on a bet yet.
Rumble vs Davis should be fun. I think Davis will give him a nice "welcome back" Lose.
I hope Rockhold can prove himself in the UFC again. He DOES belong there.

Well, it's official. Jones is going to retain the even belt. My dad and brother put money on Glover. Those two never win their UFC bets! :D

Jones is AMAZING! Not a fan and never will be, but AMAZING! He is only getting better. Gustaffson better come ready.
Good for Rumble. He looked good for his first fight back. He does need some more work though. I think the Blackzillians will get him there.
Rockhold... Wow! What else can you say. working 2 submission moves at once??? That was Crazy. I'd like this guy to go far.
I have to mention Holloway, that guy he fought was a beast (Fili). He stayed composed and eventually got his submission.
Oh, and Jim Miller, How can I forget. He did say: If he got Medeiros's neck he will choke him out (or something like that). Boy the 1st opportunity he had, he did just that.
Ok, Ok, one more, Benavidez's submission over Elliot. Elliot really took it to Benavidez for the first few minutes. I really thought Benavidez was gonna lose. That submission was perfect. Elliot couldn't even tap. He was all tied up!
All and all, Great card I felt.
    Dan, Your opinion is appreciated...

Looking back at the results, I forgot to mention Gomi's win. I'm a fan of his (in his day). and happy to see him win.
Poor Charlie Brenneman When he loses he loses BIG!!!!!

I'm with you Armen. Every time Jones opens his mouth I like him less. Johnson was classy at that post fight, but Jones was a ******'. JJ is a great fighter for sure, but he fails everywhere else. I hope Gusto schools him in the rematch.

It was a very entertaining card overall. I agree with everything you said.

Rumble is massive! He came in and dominated Davis like I didn't think Davis could. He will be a force to reckon with in that division. Crazy that he was once a WW.

Now Miller is calling out Khabib Nurmagomedov - mad props to him for doing so, because it seems like nobody else out there wants a piece of him. Also, Rockhold is calling out Bisping, and Bisping has responded that he is open to it. Some interesting potential matchups coming our way.

Great card last night! Brown/Silva was one of the best fights ever. Silva is one tough MF. I hope Brown gets a title shot next - would love to see him win it.

Oh, and that guy who was wearing the Chuck Liddell costume? Absolutely brilliant!

Brown getting a title shot? Really, already. Who in the top 10... even top 15 has he beaten? He looked great, but boy is he soft in his midsection... Over and Over and Over he got HURT!
Great fight though. I seriously had a hard time watching it and I've NEVER cringed that much during a fight. I really thought he was gonna actually kill Silva in the ring.

Agreed. Was an amazing fight! I don't think I've ever been rooting for the ref to stop a fight before, but I too thought Silva was gonna get permanently injured or worse (for real).

Not sure if he truly "deserves" a title shot, but the UFC does a lot worse in how they award them. He would be exciting for sure- he's got the heart, no doubt.

I finally got a chance to watch the main card last night and I agree with everyone. The Brown/Silva fight was really something else. I couldn't believe Silva kept eating shot after shot. I was looking for a stoppage. I'm usually not one to call for a stoppage unless the fight is truly over, but at some point you have to think of the fighter's safety. Silva took way too much punishment.

I don't think Brown is ready for a title shot. Silva got hurt and was a sitting duck the whole fight. Give Brown one more top guy and let's see what happens.

    Great card overall.

PS: I need that Chuck Liddell outfit. That was awesome.
