    Hi,

Just a quick question. Do you know if any company plans to do a 1/18 version of the ex-Shah of Iran SVJ ?

    Regards,

    Ramin

Speaking of the Shah, here is our former Miura, the ex-Shah SV 4870 at Bahrain International Circuit, Bahrain-registered 379476.

I think they are both great for the era from whence they were created, and both suit the overall finish of each variant.

So I was rereading the P400 review "Assoluto Prestigio" by Denise McCluggage from early 1968 and had forgotten her impressions of the sound made by the car she drove. The orange car was apparently private owned by one Gordon Tatum, had been broken in and was driven around Maryland. There was another P400 which was white but there is no mention of it being driven. Other than non-working headlights, complaints about the interior and having to wind down the window for what seemed like forever, her other issue was:

"There's another disappointment for me in the Miura: the way it sounds. The engine makes seemingly appropriate noises. It blubbers a little, pops and roars and rips, but somehow it isn't quite right. It sounds to me more like a V-8 than a V-12."

I have never heard of another reviewer or an owner complaining about the Miura engine sound in this way! Anyway it was still a great in period write up. I think I may have to reread all my other old reviews and see what jumps out at me.

Made an interesting observation tonight. When I first got the P400 I read some speculation that these was no technical reason for the bump in power of the S over the P400. There was some speculation that it was all a marketing ploy. If you look at the specs, all the normal performance changes i.e. displacement, compression ratio, cam timing, valve lift, valve sizes, carb size etc are all the same for both engines. Reading the carb specs tonight I found the P400 uses 30mm chokes while the S uses 32mm chokes. Technically the chokes are a little undersized in the P400 so the extra 2mm for the chokes on the S provides the power increase. By changing the chokes on the P400 it's possible to upgrade it to S specs.

    Cheers Jim

The major difference between the P400 and the S model are the cylinder heads. The ports in the S are larger, therefore you can utilize larger chokes in the carbs, which inturn yields more horsepower.

Interesting I did not realize the ports where smaller on the P400. I've only seen one small port head (at least it was small next to an LP5000s head) and I was under the impression that it was a 350GT head. I ran my engine model, changing the choke size from 30mm to 32mm, the results line up pretty well with Lamborghini's advertised Hp increase.

    Cheers Jim
