720, You can not delete the std features. There was another question on the configurator , it is only accessible at the dealer.
That's too bad. Ferrari is usually surprisingly accommodating to customer requests. They may charge you, but they usually try to give you what you want. Your answer seems definitive. Can I ask how you know this for sure? I hate to give up easily
You can always push hard and try, you never know. I asked several times. What they will accommodate are additional cost options, configurations, Extra Camp, Taylor Made etc. That they will do all day long, for a price as you know. Keep trying though, good luck.
The radio, nav and telemetry are no charge options (but still are considered options) on US cars like the shields and the driver's seat adjustment device. Therefore, if you don't choose or check these options on your spec, your car would not come with these options. For example, if you don't want the shields, then don't check the shields on the option list.
The upper dash is standard alcantara and the lower dash is F1 technical fabric except for a few area are alcantara. For the doors, the upper panel is standard alcantara and the lower panel is glossy carbon fiber. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a short clip that I recorded on the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi yesterday. It was good fun to see another owner using his Speciale 'properly' as well... Ferrari 458 Speciale on track - Yas Marina Circuit - YouTube
TTN27, Interesting. I along with several others were not able to delete those options. The Modis system (Sat, Nav,telemetry)kept mandating them. Maybe there has been a change in later builds. 720, hope TTN27 is right, sorry if I got it wrong.
Hi Tom. Pleased to see you're still having fun with your car Are you still running your first set of tyres or did you have to replace them already?
No problem at all it's always "interesting" trying to order a new ferrari the way you want it. When I ordered my yellow stradale back in late 2003 I asked my dealer if I could get the seats in black alcantara trimmed with yellow alcantara. He immediately said "no". I asked if he could double check. A few days later he told me FNA said it could not be done because they do not make yellow alcantara. Coincidentally, I was going to Mugello for the Challenge Finals so I dropped by the factory and spoke to the person there responsible for special requests. I told him what I wanted and what my dealer told me. He laughed and brought out a large book of alcantara samples and showed me yellow alcantara i got the seats done the way I wanted...but had I not pursued it further myself I would not have. Anyway, that's why I pressed you a bit
MikeS, I just talked to the GM at my dealership earlier, and you are correct regarding the telemetry. It comes standard on all US cars and you can not delete telemetry since it is included in the base price of the car already. In terms of audio system, satellite radio and nav, he said he will check tomorrow to see if you can order the car without these no cost options. Sorry, I originally thought the build out sheet for the Speciale (i.e. The price calculator sheet) have boxes which you can check or uncheck for these no cost options (including the shields, the driver's seat adjustment device, telemetry, audio system, satellite radio and nav). Actually, my sales person also thought the same way. Although I ordered my Speciale with all these no cost options, hopefully, Ferrari will allow a US customer to build the Speciale without the radio and nav. If this is the case, Rick(720) will defineitely be happy.
good news (for me at least). TTN27 just PM'd me and told me that he spoke too his dealer, and the dealer confirmed that you CAN order a US Speciale "without" the audio system, SAT radio and NAV. he said "Just don't check the choice for these no cost options when you build your car.". thanks TTN27
i was playing around with the configurator, and when "telemetry option" is selected you are also forced to choose the "audio system" because it's integrated into the audio system. and the telemetry option requires the GPS aerial. so it looks like all US Speciales are going to have that small aerial on the roof. crud.
With regards to the rear diffuser flaps for the Speciale, does anyone know at what speeds are the flaps activated to reduce drag?
What a step forward for the configurator! Really very versatile...and finally caught up to Porsche's configurator.
