By the way, I see in the moderator log that you have been warned in the recent past for personal attacks, and that you even received a temporary ban as a result of your past behavior. Just so you are aware, there will be no more leniency for you.

You over look the obvious fact that, with 125,000 registered users making thousands of posts each day, the moderators here do not read over every thread in search of TOS violations. In most cases, we have to rely on the users to report violations as they see them.

Like you, we are all users here that visit the site in order to discuss topics that interest us. The difference is that, as a token of our appreciation for what Rob has built, we have volunteered to help him keep things operating as smoothly as possible by responding to TOS violations, either as we encounter them, or as they're reported. We are not employees of FerrariChat and this is not "our job," as you call it. To us, paying $15 per year (or even $50 per year) to show our support just isn't enough.

The only point you're making is that several users here were aware of some violations made 20 pages ago, yet they never thought to click on the little "!" button to let a moderator know about them. Kudos to all for calling them out in the thread, but how about calling our attention to the thread in the first place, instead of waiting for 20 pages to go by and then complaining about a lack of moderator intervention?
    Thank you. Please do.
And there's a subforum here for that as well. :)

Now that we've aired that out, let's keep the thread on-topic. If anyone else wants to complain about my moderation, either send me a PM or send one to Rob Lay volunteering your own services.

i didn't insult mark in my post. there was not a single derogatory term in my very post to insult him. i am just asking for clarification of what constitutes to be defined as personal attack. i apologize if my attitude gives you a sense of me challenging you. but it takes one to know one.

but i will follow your suggestion and keep this civilized. and will report for inappropriate comments.

With all due respect that rear tongue really creeps me out. Is it something you can turn off?

It certainly works quite well in conjunction with the front and rear active flaps in the diffuser. If you deactivate it, then the car's aero balance will be ruined and of course you won't have as much downforce.

Does anyone know how much downforce the LaFerrari makes max? I've googled my fingers raw, and nothing.

Ferrari wouldn't say. They only released the max downforce at 124 mph (200 kph), which is 360 kg. If we apply high school physics, at 160 mph the downforce level is similar to what McLaren released for the P1 at the same speed. Then again, we don't really know for sure.

Actually above 150mph the rear wing retracts slightly. So over 150 the car produces less down force, at least in a straight line. Now when the car is cornering, the computer is obviously looking at several factors ie steering angle, pitch, etc. and the wing retracts less than it would when traveling in a straight line over 150. However, it is not fully deployed.

Thats good, obviously you won't be able to steer in high downforce corners going 300 kph, guess they found ideal setting for the car. Key is less drag/more downforce but very hard to achieve. Its generally high downforce or top speed in F1, but here we have active aero so its different ball game.

The car monitors speed, cornering attitude, yaw rate, throttle, steering and braking input and a lot of other things and determines what to do with all the flaps, spoilers and turning vanes. I guess it knows best.

One of his comments about the cars:

I don't think we'll ever get a journalist or publication going on record declaring one of these a winner. And if that happens, the fanboy bickering will reach new heights.

What I find amazing is that anyone cares which road car is the quickest at all. Why does it matter which one is the absolute quickest? They're all going to within a second or two no matter the test. Road cars are RARELY tested in the same conditions by the same driver, so what's the point in comparing lap times done by different drivers? In the end if the 918 is quicker than the P1 is that going to Mclaren fans so upset that the they like Mclaren less? If the P1 is quicker than LaFerrari will these people stop being Ferrari fans? My favorite Ferrari of all time is a 1958 250 Testa Rossa pontoon fender (0754) and that car was already a dinosaur when it was introduced, does that make the car less special?
