Is there a LaFerrari 0-62 mph time already?
Right, which is 0.1s and 1mph faster in a 1/4 mile. Then again, the P1 can also have a higher trap speed. MotorTrend recorded 148.9mph in a 1/4 mile (it was slightly damp) while McLaren's official figure is 152mph.
It is clear that the P1 is the faster car between those three. Considering that, unlike the other two, it is RWD and the track was damp it holds a serious advantage over the 918 and the Veyron.
Nevertheless the 918 figures are deeply impressive for what was initially considered an 'overweight' HyperCar
You remain as The One who Knows because You Are and You Had. But if Andy had driven one, no doubt he would have shown us more control and elegance.
Nonsense again from the mac crowd . Talk to motor trend , the surface when the p1 was tested on ( for figures )was NOT damp even though parts of the track were . The weissach pack 918 is faster than the standard car tested and customer cars will be fully fighting fit and not a prototype. .1,.2 of a second means nothing in the real world it's small enough to be influenced by many things indeed . All these tests do is confirm my words when I said the cars make power very differently and all the crap written by reviewers about the cars was just that , crap . My butt dyno is very good and I was right about the brakes ( this non weissach pack car beating mclarens own figures ). Dooms but dyno 1 most of the worlds reviewers 0 . Never underestimate porsche . Wait till you see real world road driving comparisons , all this with a burmeister stereo , a cabrio and a luxuriously appointed interior . Not bad at all . These are meant to be road cars after all ... I'll be driving a la Ferrari soon , the owner tells me it is faster than both . His butt dyno is pretty good too if I'm honest .
What part of didn't you get? You were banned because you posted objectionable statements after my clear warning. He was not banned because he didn't make any such statements after my warning. Statements before the warning were not at risk. 24 hour ban.
Hahaha, I don't know what to say, except laugh. You realize what you are causing by constantly banning users who provide fair arguments and comments? You are creating an enviroment where fanatics and fanboys will bicker. What are you going to do now, ban me for criticizing your poor judgement? Get your head out of the sand mr. moderator. Let's stay on topic from now on (not that you are contributing to making that possible).
Haven't driven a final car yet . I've driven this car though , it's the special silver prototype 000. I think it's being tested by magazines to try to drum up the final sales for Porsche ( unlike the p1 and l a Ferrari it's not sold out). I asked for a car around Christmas ( I stay away from early cars in case of teething problems ). I won't be using mine on track , it will be a road car used for trips too and from race tracks and other tours in Europe . I specced wesissach pack , with luxuries put back in to make life easier . I'm off to stuttgart this week for final sign off and spec . I think this will be the best car for my purposes , the Ferrari will be the most dramatic/exciting and the p1 a little of both .
So when will the real porsche be ready to be tested? They seem to have underestimated the comp. Sounds like an excuse about the power. Face it, they thought 887 was enough, but it wasn't. So they went and added more, no problem. And let's see how the p1 does on fresh rubber on a race track and not an airport. And why can't it not make it around willow without losing power? Was this part of their plan? To give journalist bunk cars so that they write, as Doom put it ( crap reviews)? It's not the journalist fault if they are getting the inferior product. Until porsche decides to give the the real thing, people need to stop making excuses for them.
Cheers mate . What gets lost in this bickering is they are all actually different cars . They just happen to perform in the same stratosphere . Turbo , 4wd,na,cabrio, coupe , v12 etc . They are all awesome cars . I know what I want and why I bought mine , the 918 I will regularly and genuinely use . I will hopefully get a la Ferrari when prices stabilise , even though I was not initially interested . Not that I would have got one (I didn't even ask Ferrari for one lol) . I am not interested in the p1 after what I experienced first hand from mclaren( and some of my observations on the car) but still I see no reason to slate someone else's choice of car . I find it a little amusing when people do however .
Talk of the devil and he shal appear , lol What excuses ? The well appointed , heavier , non weissach cabrio I, also on non fresh rubber , is basically as fast as ( and stops better than) the track monster p1 ( especially real world speeds ). Porsche allowed track testing ( unlike mclaren) , same driver , same surface as far as I know , same magazine and driver . They have more cars to sell and are courting the press , surely that's not hard to understand . What are you expecting ? Who's making excuses , you ? Hilarious.
I'd say the best car is the one that mixes all the features into one, and that seems to be the p1. Monster on track, comfortable on the street, and full electric mode to boot. Plus able to transform itself into a race car when needed. Wait until it gets the optional trofeo tires. All those numbers will drop drastically. These are the best times we live in....
Lol Laptimes please . 918 is a lot more usable with its creature comforts and interior IMHO plus it doesn't have a "mind of its own". 918 will also have other rubber , if you want to continue down this route . I am bored and have about half an hour .
Have they tested the P1 at willows or California Speedway yet? As far as I know we only have numbers from the airport and 3 laps and 1 acceleration run. Obviously they didn't just make 1 pass at California Speedway. I'm sure it was the best of all the runs made. We'll have to wait and see what a full test with timing equipment fresh tires and a race track produce.
How can you say that about the Mclaren crowd? (us). Being someone who is a big adrenaline junky, I fully respect your butt meter. However how do you explain to a big crowd of people watching (as of course there will be) when someone finally lines up the P1 and the porsche and the porsche takes it off the line and pretty much losses the lead (on paper) immediately? And lets not talk about if someone ever brings them together to do a track test. We all know who will win that. This is all my opinion of course. Now, if you are looking for a car with insane brutal speed and have high luxury to then I can understand. We should respect everyone's opinion.
