Help recalling an old movie!!!

    okay so back maybe 15 years ago, i recall watching on TV, a movie or series (more likely a movie).

    I recall it involved a racecar (was it even ferrari? i recall it was red), it was a vintage race car, maybe can-am style. basically the part of the plot i remember is:

    guy picks out a wrecker chassis from a junkyard

    makes an exact replica of said race car (im guessing it was some famous race car that won a race) and sells it as the real deal

    details included- restamping the serial number

    also when the car is on display, it nearly gets busted for some wiring looking too new? maybe? and also the shade of yellow on some bolt was slightly the wrong shade of yellow or something?


    DID I DREAM THIS WHOLE THING?? i have LITERALLY been chasing that show since i saw it as a child. someone please help.

    IMDB the plot for It Takes Two (1988) and see if it is the movie. A guy builds a fake red Countach and sells it to a girl or something. I'm stumped and this is all I could come up with.

    there was a twilight zone episode where a dino was faked [someone talked a car guy with a shop to fake stamp the serial number, I think]

    at least I think it was the twilight zone [the modern version]
