And it's apparently a Euro QV, so a chassis number for the "Euro QVs in North America" database would be nice too! More than that, I want to ride in it!

Fascinated by the turbo set up.

Single or twin? How do you manage heat? Is there a knock sensor that can be attached somewhere? Intercooled?

    Picture please!

" The main thing I would say to anyone interested is that if you have never driven a 308 with over 500 RWHP '

So you have a 308 with way more power than a 288 GTO! It would be interesting to hear all the technical details/see pics including the necessary mods to get the REST of the car (drivetrain/brakes, etc) to handle 500 RWHP! :)

Brakes don't necessarily need to be bigger due to increased horsepower especially on a street car as weight is the main enemy of brakes.

Years ago, before Mark (Mk_E) started the V12 project, I rode in his 500+ hp supercharged 308QV. Absolutely outrageous. I came away with several observations. 500 hp is too much for a 308. First gear was useless. Wiggle you right toe too much on the throttle and you break away the tires. Put slicks on the car and you break away the half shafts. BTW, Mark had a custom multi-plate clutch. He said he smoked a single plate "racing clutch" the first time he banged 2nd gear.... His setup included EFI, heavy duty valve springs and retainers, an intercooler and IIRC, was running about 17+ lbs boost.

My personal feeling is that 350 - 400 hp is the way to go. You can achieve this with a stock engine, supercharger and about 7lbs boost without an intercooler. Be prepared to install heavy duty clutch, as well.

    FWIW.

Heck, I'd be happy with about 320...that'd get me right around the 10#/HP target :)

Fully agree, but 700+ also renders 2nd pretty useless with 3rd being touchy at speed. There is a very high pucker factor when your traveling in triple digits and you can break the tires loose. But man o man is it FUN! that build destroyed a multidisk tilton too. That lead to the development of the MONSTER clutch I know have custom made, built for 700~1200 ft-lb/tq.

But back on planet earth a solid 350Hp is the sweet spot and keeps the breakage factor down, also keep the wallet from dry heaving :D

Bummer! I just depleted my play money account for a new guitar so I'm once again out of the running. :(

So somebody here buy the darn thing and let us know how it goes…the price is 1k LESS than it used to be!

    Yes, that's what mine is.

It is in a few threads here plus there is a nice video on Youtube, search there for Supercharged Ferrari 308. Its a black one that should be one of the first search results.

WOW, it's coming up 7yrs now! Hope you've been enjoying it to the fullest Mike.

I took mine off last yr in preparation for another build and still haven't got around to finishing it!

After going to rotrex and EFI on other builds it's hard not to go that route.

The Supercharger posted for sale is a totally different animal than the 928 kit. The 928 kit appears to use the existing FI system and engine management. I would not say that is better only easier and cheaper. The other requires that the engine be converted to EFI with electromagnetic injectors, and a host of other components. See http://www.nicksforzaferrari.com/electromotive_catalog.pdf

So, Apples and Oranges. If your car is already EFI then the Craigslist kit drops in, if not then you'd need to be prepared to spend another $3k on an EFI upgrade. In the end, the 928 is simpler, but could have fuel starvation/mixture issues using the stock mechanical CIS injector system and certainly doesn't have the computer control to handle mixture&timing at any and all engine scenarios.

I've done the EFI conversion on the 308 engine. I'd say it does not perform a huge amount better in terms of pedal to the floor performance, but it makes the car more "drivable." The power and torque at the LOW end of the spectrum is more noticeable. You can put the car in 3rd or 4th gear at 2,000 RPM and it will tool along smoothly, and transition without problems to pedal to the floor.

"You can put the car in 3rd or 4th gear at 2,000 RPM and it will tool along smoothly, and transition without problems to pedal to the floor."

A stock 328 will do that with no trouble at all. In fact, I demoed exactly that to an interested person from 1500 RPM. I wasn't aware there was THAT much difference in the engine management between the stock 08 and 28. Of course, a bit of displacement increase helps but it's not really that much of an increase. So I'm wondering if the EFI made the difference or just the "tuneup" involved did it. ?

My standard 308 on carbs is fine at this too, I guess it depends how well set up it is.

Somewhere in the past of my car, someone decided to cut the grille short and add a second set of spots. I dont like it and would like to take it back to original without having to spend a fortune on a new grille. Has anybody out there perhaps have a source of a secondhad one or alternately CAD drawing which I can then have lazercut?
