This clip I've just seen shows some hectic moving of RBR mini winglet...

No matter what one feels about sportsmansship/legality, it shows incredible skill of engineering!

Are winglets subject to weight tests too? If it passes, no problem.

Remember Ferrari had a movable floor last year...

It seems to move with air flow but unaffected by bumps (curbs).

I wish so much that the FIA could legislate out these winglets, vanes and other aerodynamic appendix that clutter the aesthetics of a race car.
They may be justified from a technical point of view but make a F1 like as piece of origami.
Beside, these contraptions cost fortunes to develop, when the teams' money could be better spent.

Contraptions are in the DNA of F1. Might as well out law cleverness.

    I don't follow you there.

On one hand the FIA allows all these aero tricks, but still imposes open wheels and open cockpit in F1.

Can't they see the contradiction here?

Contraptions and anachronisms aren't mutually exclusive.

In any case you're being all logical. Sure you're British?

I can't find a clip, but i do recall the 2006 Malaysian gp when the front wings of the Ferrari were flexing or moving at high speeds. They got off with a warning, and changed their wings after that..

RB & Merc both had flexi front wings for sometime now, RB being the most flexible under load of the bunch.

Those wings where stunning. The gurney flexed completely flat, and part of the wing. Gave them a lot of top speed above 200 odd kmh.

Red Bull since pioneered in on the front wings of course...

That looks very cool! Wonder if it's intentional or not? Either way, I don't see the problem. We have all sorts of movable aero on road cars - 458 front grill winglets anyone? Why not on race cars?

But I remember Ferrari front wing were held in what looks like pins. High speeds, the wing flexes and the pin can be see, holding the top front wing flap to the nose. Under braking it closes back...
