What's interesting is that you've been quite vocal about the rumoured issues/delays with both the Ferrari and Porsche but you haven't said a bad word about the P1 to date. Do you not know anything about the apparent breakdowns, electrical faults, battery issues and software updates that Doom is referring to?

I am sure wtdoom has his own sources, but for me it would not be my place to raise the issue as the only one that I have seen has been relayed in the private owner's forum at McLarenLife.

Since you are (as usual) so desperate to cling to any bit of negativity you can find, currently there is one owner I am aware of with an issue with a battery temp warning that is being corrected. The other owners who chimed in about the problem have not experienced anything similar, each with some significant miles behind them on road and on track. These are highly complex machines and early adopters will sometimes get to help work out the kinks.

Great video as always from Jay.

It's nice to see someone be such a genuine enthusiast, regardless of marque. He doesn't necessarily have to be professional about his presentations, like the journalists do.

yawn to your yawn. for someone who likes to point out the niggles on LaF and 918, how's quality, integrity of product with the P1's delivered? In the eyes of GOD, P1 is perfect. In the hands of customers, good thing they're close to the factory then eh? Good lord, if Mac attempted to build something as complex as 918.

Hardly desperate, just curious as I wasn't aware that the P1 had any issues. You certainly haven't talked about them until now and I was intrigued by Doom's post. As for "clinging on to any bit of negativity", I think both you and your Australian crony proved how desperate and biased the two of you are after the LaFerrari reviews surfaced.

So, it's ok for P1 'early adopters' of good-to-go delivered customer cars (because we are McLaren and we literally deliver) to 'help work out the kinks' while it is such a black eye to Ferrari to do the same for LaF....and for Porsche to ensure that their car has the LEAST of these kinks needing to be worked out by 'early adopters'? Why so critical of others when the same crap is 100% guaranteed happened/will continue to happen to P1?

There are no chronic problems surfacing with the P1 as wtdoom has attempted to imply in the midst of his verbal sparring. The car with the temp sensor issue is in a temperate climate but again no other car in his region has experienced a similar fault.

News Flash: There has never been a perfect car.

Yes mclaren would know nothing at all about unfortunate headlines . The 12 c , p1 etc have never had any issues . Lol

You remember some of what I say but forget the fact that I wanted a later car also because I am not in Europe long term till Christmas . What's wrong with that ?
You really are a strange one peloton .

Ferrari have been knowingly putting incomplete or not-fully-functioning cars in their customer's hands up to this point. This is quite a different situation to a car that has developed a minor issue that will be corrected under warranty.

the McLaren brotherhood preferred to keep it 'private'. but sooner or later...you know how that bit ends... but sure, Pelo would rather keep that stuff to himself and rather point out 'battery issues' with LaF or 'delays' with 918.

Oh really? Sources on this? Quite serious accusations you are making, claiming Ferrari is knowingly delivering a faulty product to it's most valued customers.

McLaren has also said that the first P1's may have bugs and will be returned for updates etc. The owner of the orange P1 said it himself in the Shme150 video. If the customers don't want to be a part of this process, they could wait for a later car. Same with LaF.

Pretty sure they have yet to kill anyone. Those would be the unfortunate headlines I was referring to.

Sorry, I don't hang on your every word. I quoted what I believe is your most recent comment here on the subject of delayed delivery. Smart move with any car really - it wasn't a criticism.

I have had a few chats with some of those owners and they are pretty satisfied with their P1's despite the few niggles. They weren't expecting to have a perfect car with no problems, especially that they chose to get the car very early.

Is the GT3 as complex as the 918? We all know why it was recalled.

    Stuff like that happen.

How is LaF 'not fully functioning'? you have the all the facts? yes, a minor issue of minor issues of future other minor issues. but that's ok, at least they got a delivered car...and it's under warranty.

Yes, I have well placed sources. The info I shared, as I have noted before, was also backed up by confirmation from someone who isn't closely associated with McLaren but is in fact closely associated with many people at Ferrari. It's all here in this thread for you to review.

I have followed this thread for some time. I have not seen any reputable claims or sources asserting or backing up your claims of Ferrari knowingly delivering a faulty car. Yes, there are heating issues under extreme conditions that have yet to be finally calibrated.

But how is this any different from the message P1 owners have gotten? The LaF owners have also been told that the first cars will probably not be 100% - exactly the same thing McL has told it's first P1 customers.

When the correction to your known problem that occurs with every car you are delivering is potentially a change to the chassis by adding ducting for cooling that wasn't present or identified as necessary during the development cycle, that's certainly more significant than a calibration issue.

I have more info on this than has been shared in those two posts and much of it comes from a very well placed source who has customers waiting. I maintain this issue is also the reason the LaFerrari has yet to be certified for sale in the USA (the demonstration model they displayed at the recent Chrysler event had to come into the USA on a Carnet) and why UK deliveries are also on hold last I checked.

No worries though - they are great for laps of Monaco in their current configuration. ;)

Killing anyone ? Oh you are referring to the Carrera gt .
A driver can kill himself in any car Eric . Disrespecting a 612 hp car with no electronic aids results in a bad outcome .any driver worth his salt knows this . You lack class and taste . I pity you a little now .

I have spoken with Michael outside of the forum on several occasions. However, I believe that you are exaggerating his comments.

The car was fine during the media days, wasn't it? I respect that is a factory car, but it proves that things are nowhere near as bad as you attempt to portray them as. There are cars in the hands of owners that are being used to a good extent. If there was an overhanging risk of overheating they would not deliver the car. The status at the time of that comment was is that if you try to run your own version of the 6 hours of Spa, you might have wanted to be a bit cautious.

I am not exaggerating his comments. I am coupling them with similar things that have been relayed to me through other sources. I don't know him or which brand he might align with in your eyes, but Traveller was apparently on the same wavelength as well on this topic. Feel free to disregard all of us if you must.

I know I am perceived as the McLaren guy but I have been at this a very long time and have developed contacts within several brands - some very well informed people in fact. I would not have stuck my neck out on the LaFerrari issue if I was not able to be confident in the details presented.

No doubt Ferrari should be at a point where they have a workable solution - they must if they are truly going to stay on track to deliver cars in the USA by October or sooner.
