Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not denying that there is a some work left to be done with the cooling of LaF at the moment. US cars should be arriving soon. The last I heard was that some of them may be arriving as early as this summer.

I think you are exaggerating his comments because you have through several posts attempted to paint a picture of the car as it being nearly undrivable or inherently dangerous to drive, which I believe it is not. Traveller knows that I too have access to have contacts and sources. Both of us have shared info on this forum in the past.

I am not counterarguing your claims that there is an issue with the car. I am arguing against the scale of which you are portraying the early bugs of the car as. As I said in an earlier post; people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Let's all chill down a few notches and get back on track...you guys seem to like beating each other up with words a lot!
Here's something else for us to chew on...I can't wait to see what Jay says about his LaFerrari when he takes delivery of it!
Wait, does Jay even have a Ferrari in his amazing collection? I'm not sure... Anybody know?

    No?
    Why?
    Of course you are not.
It's not the reason why you spend a lot of your time to demolish Ferrari and Porsche new flagships.

I have never suggested this - if you are reading that from my posts you are making incorrect assumptions.

The car does have a known technical fault where if pushed beyond the limits there could be a serious issue, but I suspect Ferrari have put fail-safes in place for that regardless where the car would simply shut down or go into limp mode.

Regardless of safeguards the issue is that no owner currently has the ability to extract maximum performance from the car, and again due to this snafu Ferrari can not achieve the certifications that are required to sell cars here in the USA (confirmed without any doubts) and it is highly probable this is the same reason UK cars are delayed as well.

No - when it comes to Italian cars Jay sides firmly with Ferruccio in the age old argument.

You'll find the only Ferrari he's driven in one of his garage videos is Adam Carolla's 330GT 2+2 - the caption reads "A Ferrari visits Jay's garage". Unlike many other manufacturers, Ferrari don't bring Jay cars to test out and its not likely we'll ever see a formal review of the LaFerrari from him.

I do think there is a strong potential to see a 918 end up in his garage given his past ties to Porsche and his enjoyment of the Carrera GT. He's driven it already of course and seemed to appreciate the experience.

The "niggles" are probably just hearsay he's read on over at McLife.

It should be a serious concern to them when their cars are perceived as being dangerous, as is now the case amongst many around the world in regards to the Carrera GT. Sure the tires were 9 years old and the vehicle was likely traveling at twice the speed limit, but that isn't what will be remembered by most. Most people will simply recall that two people died in a fiery accident in a Porsche. You can't bury your head in the sand on this stuff - it's tragic for sure, but it is hard to counter that kind of situation when it gets worldwide attention.

Porsches have been perceived dangerous for decades now, hasn't really hurt them at all... It's actually part of the fun... Though I figure someone who idolizes Ron Dennis might have some issues with the idea of having fun :-D

I've driven some Porsches and enjoyed them quite a bit. I would even drive the Carrera GT if given the opportunity and I'm sure I'd survive and have quite a bit of fun.

If there was ever a person I could be accused of idolizing at McLaren it was Gordon Murray, not Ron Dennis. I've met Ron a couple of times and he was friendly to me when he didn't need to be so that was nice. I appreciate his laser focus on the details and striving constantly for perfection, but I didn't feel any need to bow or kiss his ring. I did get him to sign my boxed set of "McLaren : The Cars" and "McLaren : The Wins" - autographs are something that I don't normally care to bother with, but as he has been the leading force behind the success of McLaren since 1981 and I was meeting him for the first time a week after the books arrived it seemed appropriate.

The fact that Ferrari is letting journalists do hot laps, indicate that LaFerrari is past any issues it might have had.

BTW, has Gordon Murray commented on the P1 or any other current gen hybrid hypercars?

Yes of course - all the cars are magically fixed already just because journalists drove some that really worked.

I seem to recall he panned the idea of hybrids like these altogether - he is of course never a fan of weight. Someone else asked me this question recently and unfortunately I can't point you to a specific link.

He has suggested once he has his iStream licensing deals in place and functioning as planned that he might have one more supercar in him. He's currently on the advisory board at Lotus too, so he may simply end up influencing their future products.

Nah. Factory cars might be fine, as they could be ahead of the curve.

Since the solution has been found, it can be applied to all cars.

The journo's didn't test the car in extreme conditions (for instance a summers day in Abu Dhabi) nor did they drive it on track for a very long time.

It always takes time for solutions to trickle down and be implemented from R&D to production. Fortunately, LaF is a limited production model with a very focused apparatus supporting the car. If a solution has been found, the turnaround should be swift.

Would be funnier if someone had taken the time to photoshop in Ron's face. ;)

P1's lap was definitely captured on video - they even shared some bits to tease the &$!# out of you people. :D
