Is a European Dino worth more than it's U.S. counterpart?

    I was wondering what everyone thought about whether a European version Dino is worth more than it's U.S. counterpart, and whether the European version brings more money at auction or not?

    I also was wondering how everyone felt about the esthetics of one vs. the other, and also what everyone thought about the increased horsepower of the European version vs the U.S. version, as a result of it not having antismog equipment?

    I'm surprised no one has answered this. It's my impression that Euro cars are worth more for the reasons you state. None of the DOT or smog changes were improvements in esthetics or function.

    This would especially be true if one were to sell a US car in Europe-- I would imagine it would take quite a hit. US cars sold in the US are at least true to their market.

    I think in Europe, the us spec cars generally are worth less, however, most us spec cars in Europe have had their smog stuff gutted, some made to look euro, and other adjustments. The are more Dino's in Europe than the US, so more Euro stuff to choose from.

    In the US, most smog stuff has been gutted, some converted to euro lights, etc.... In years past I think there was a value place on euro cars slightly higher than us spec, but in today's world, they seem to completely blend together. Euro cars are few and far between. I don't believe auction results in the US have shown a price differentiation.

    I think it has much to do with each individual Dino. Colors, spec, history, Flairs and Chairs and of course what the buyer falls in love with and how specific the requirements of the buyer are. Dinos are an emotional purchase.

    I don't think there is a difference in value. Europeans will want Euro spec cars, the U.S. buyer Is split. Japan wants Euro. 206's and L Series have their own market. I think matching numbers on 206's and L-Series have less effect because of their rarity as long as they're original, correct and well restored. Chairs and Flairs are their own market. M and E series Dino values are based on originality, level of restoration, and great color combos irregardless of U.S. Or Euro. Some think converting a U.S. Dino to Euro specs and changing colors is sacrilege, others are fine with it. Jon's U.S. modified Flairs Dino GT Coupe that sold at auction at a record price is proof.

    I've seen some of the records. 0f the ones I saw, they were full Euro models. They were air freighted in as "race cars" (one actually was) then eventually sold as used cars and registered in states that had a more relaxed registration process. None that I saw had U.S. equipment.

    The Dino Compendium states Euro cars command a 20% premium.

    I own both a Flares and Chairs US version and a Euro version 246 GTS. Driving them back to back makes it clear that it is "hands down" that the Euro is a far better driver, especially above 3500 RPM.
    The cams, 3 lobe distributor, exhaust manifolds and muffler (sans US emission) in the Euro version must all contribute.

    I simply meant that M-series were Euro only...no US M's.

    Of course a European author would write that. EVERYTHING is better in Europe, especially Russian natural gas.

    And, Scott's Bora could really "dig out." It was a real mover going across the Sammamish Slough on NE 116th at about 130+ MPH - scared the $#@^ out of me!
