While I suspect the feeling is mutual, the "community" members can be both very good and very bad. I stick mostly to the auto related fora since I seem to see the most informative and reasonable behavior there. I stay away from the "lifestyle" fora, especially subscribed fora, as more of those folks are not my people than are. I have seen some folks engage in outrageous character assassination and others being gadflies (all IMO). Many posts are silly, thoughtless knee-jerk posts that add ignorance to injury. So I'd say I am neutral overall, but positive in the limited fora I frequent.

been here for a few days now (ok years) and have always been impressed with both car and non-car talk, ask a reasonable question and you get great answers on almost any subject. On the flip side ask a smart ass question and lookout....I enjoy the popcorn on those threads. So those threads make this both a great community to be a part of and healthy from all the fiber in popcorn.

Strongly agree, especially since I had the politics and religion section removed from my view.

I strongly agree! Without this support group I'd have to cast out gremlins alone with no idea where to look for them.

I subscribed to this site because I've long harbored an interest in owning a Ferrari. Whenever I have ventured into a new path I have read all that I could to avoid the pitfalls. That said, I really enjoy this site. I am involved in antique motorcycles both as a hobby and a full-time business. Sometimes I chuckle when I read posts here that sound like the "I love my Harley" website: Should I buy this color or that, this option or another, etc.

Come on group: if you like something and can afford it, buy it! I am divesting my garage of some vehicles this year and hope to see a 355 6-speed Spyder in my care within a year. I saw a Hyperion blue '96 advertised and really like it. Probably won't get this one, but I don't feel required to buy red (I'm hard on light colored interiors!).
Anyway, thanks for the work put into this site and the people who post here for the info they provide.

Strongly agree. I love the quick on serious questions about car problems, and how to solve, because with Ferrari they built in with every car. I am having problems getting Rotors from the Dealership, they are waiting for them, for 3 weeks in customs. A fellow chatter said to use a certain rotor from Vegas. Stuff like that gives you options, and you can decide if you want to use them.

With all due respect to Rob, I think the question is a little awkwardly worded - is value added to my life... well, maybe not. BUT, like chocolate, I like it a lot and even if it's not the best use of my time I'm not giving it up! BTW, I like that the site is simple and usually runs pretty well. Thanks for a great sandpit Rob!

there are many Fchatters who have tremendous experience and knowledge. If I have a question people are willing to help...even regarding our Porsche.

A day without Fchat is like a day without sunshine.

I didn't say "life", I said "me". I wanted to as acutely as possible get to the core root of a user's participation on FerrariChat. Do you get something back from FerrariChat (value)? It is different for different people, but that question still applies. Hopefully the newsletter heads up got to some people that aren't as active, so we can get feedback how to improve the value and why they aren't as active.

SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE SO HARD.

HOW CAN ANYONE SAY ANYTHING BUT GREAT THINGS ABOUT A SITE THAT JUST A FEW FOLKS WORK SO HARD TO MAINTAIN?

OK, IT MAY NOT BE LIFE ALTERING - BUT IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE. I WAS MOSTLY SHOCKED BY THE "AGREE" FOLKS.

I LEARN SOMETHING EVERY TIME I LOG IN. THE ADVICE AND TIPS I HAVE GOTTEN IS PRICELESS.

The smiles it has brought to my face - also priceless.

THE SITE BEATS READING ANY CLASSIC CAR MAGAZINE THAT I HAVE TO PAY $10 for.

TO ROB AND THE FOLKS THAT MAKE THIS HAPPEN - A SITE THAT BENEFITS ALL IMMENSELY - THANKS.

If this site (and specifically, the folks on it) didn't have value to me, I wouldn't spend time here. Pretty simple. Are there some terrible folks here too? Yep, I just try to not interact with them.

"I am involved in antique motorcycles both as a hobby and a full-time business."

This past week end I was at a Shop Night in Washington state outside of Vancouver. There I ran into a guy who also rebuilds motorcycles.

Had I known, in 1972, that the Norton Commandos all had individual personalities regarding starting (or not) I might not have had so many bruses and might still have my Commando. I might also be dead by now but that is another story.

These support groups are supurb of sharing information like the "Norton carb ticklers" and the "fuse board by pass" for the fuel pumps in the 400i series.

Agreed with this. You can learn a ton here. I'd call that a huge value add proposition.

A "For Sale" 1985 Ferrari 400i a/trans found me last December...two days later I found FerrariChat, and I have been flooded with knowledge ever since. I sealed the deal on the Ferrari in early Feb and have gone thru every page of my models threads since then, I can honestly say F-Chat was a huge positive reason that I actually bought the 400i. I have been fixing a few things and finding more that need work in my spare time for the last 3 months, but I don't think I have ever NOT found an entry or thread on a subject. It seems there is always someone here that has "been there or done that" already and knows all about how to fix it......it's great !!!
Thanks for all the info so far, and stand by while I find new problems and ask more questions!!!
