Did he say that he bought the 3 series instead? If so, what a tool!
However, he may have never finished his sentence. You should have asked him what he decided to get. He may have decided on a more reliable R8 GT. Just a thought....

Driving through Newport months ago in the TR, a 20 something year old jacka#@ in a used Gallardo with paper plates, skanky chick, revving the engine constantly pulls up next to me at the next light. Yells across to me and says, "Why don't you get a real car?" To which I replied, "I would get one likes yours but my 4 roommates would want to borrow it all the time". It must have hit home as his girlfriend turned to look at him, and he raised the window back up....

I was restoring a 365 GT 2+2 a few years ago when my 25 year old daughter asked if I'm still working on that go-kart ................. the whole family burst out laughing and then my 19 year old daughter asked if I still had my red Porsche. In fact she was refering to my pride and joy at the time, a 308 GTS ............ oh dear!

Today, a young man (who works at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, judging by his shirt) came up to me when I was having a cup of tea outside a cafe today. Struck up a conversation about how it's amazing to see a Ferrari in person, and how he wants one of his own in 10-15 years. Something about pursuing an Associate's Degree now. I urged him to consider a 4 year degree and a Grad or Prof degree. He asked me what I did, and I explained how education was very important to me, and helped me become the person I am today.

I asked him if he could guess the age of my car. At this, he asked me in return "Hmm, is that an F-150?" I politely told him, no, it's a 360 Spider. I left it at that....
    ... ..........
Anyway, he was amazed when I told him my car is 13 years old.

He's got a LOOOONG way to go...

Up until yesterday all comments have been positive but I was on my way to get a haircut, was parked at a set of lights beside a gas station behind 2-3 cars, sitting there minding my own business when I heard a faint voice coming from deep in the parking lot "look at the fa&&ot in the fancy car" I turned my head to see and it was some guy in an average DD, probably mid 30's, and he just keep yelling out insults but he was far enough away that I couldn't make out everything he was saying. I thought maybe I knew him and he was messing around but I did not. There was nothing I could have done but laugh under my breath, then the light turned and I drove off normal. Then afterwards I was WTF?? It actually kinda pi$$ed me off!

From a short distance I watched two young kids walk around my 2006 ZX6R, which was parked next to one of their father's Triumph T100, they started talking about each bike, and one kid looks my Kawi up and down, then at the T100 and says "Man, dad's bike has gotta be sooooo much faster, I bet THAT thing (ZX6) only does like 70!!!"...

I may have laughed out loud.

This morning I stopped behind a nice looking Fiat Grand Punto at one of those stop lights marking a 200 meter long stretch of alternating-one-way-traffic because of a road repair site. The door opened and an attractive women of uncertain age ran back to my car and gushed, "I was so excited seeing a Ferrari behind me I just had to tell you how beautiful it is".

The light turned green, she dashed back to her car, and off we went. I smiled.

Full disclosure: I live in Italy.

Two nights ago, I had to run out to the supermarket. My daughter, who is 13, wanted to come with me. We took the "red" car since it's been a long winter and I'm driving it whenever I can at the moment. I parked the car off away from the rest of cars as usual. Next, my daughter tells me she wants to wait in the car since her hair is a mess and she doesn't want anyone to see here. She just wants to sit in the car and text away on her phone. I looked at her and said "Are you sure you want to wait here? In this car?" Yup, she didn't want to go in. Okay, fine and off I went.

I'm not inside more than 10 minutes. Sure enough when I return there is a pickup truck with a window down on one side of the car and a sedan on the other side. The guy in truck is taking pictures and talking across my car to the other guy. My daughter is slouched down holding her phone. Apparently they tried to talk to her about the car, but she quickly pretended she was on the phone so she could avoid the attention. The guy in the truck was quite nice and hung around for a while taking pictures. I had a good laugh at my daughter's expense and she learned a lesson. A Ferrari and attention go hand in hand.

That's a great story. Now she realizes that she would have received less attention in the supermarket! LOL

Not so much a comment but pretty funny nonetheless.

I had just been at the gym and had "checked-in" on Instagram (I'm in the health & nutrition industry so it's good publicity) and I thought to myself.. Hmm I wonder what photos people post and tag from here (the gym).

See a photo.. Hmm, that car looks familiar. Someone had Instagramed the 599 in the carpark. Made my day!

Walking out of the grocery store today, I saw an older man with his taped up Ford Escort parked a respectable distance from my 360. I found him taking some pictures with his flip phone.
As I'm loading groceries into my front luggage compartment, he proceeds to tell me someone put my engine in the wrong place. I chucked politely, then he asks, 'Is that a V-16 [sixteen] or what?' Again, I politely said it's just a normal V-8 engine. Then he asks me 'aren't you afraid to take it out on the roads?'
I started to get a little impatient at this point. I asked him why he thought this. He replied something to the effect of 'there are a lot of nut jobs out there.' I said, that's fine that they're out there, but that I drive my car at every single possible opportunity, and that I didn't buy the car only to become afraid to drive it.
He said, ok, drive safely... And walked off.

    Weird.

Why do you guys find this weird/dumb? I don't see it that way at all. The man was being honest with what he felt, and was asking questions sincerely.

+1 if anyone will ever ask me "aren't you afraid to bring your car out on the road?" I would answer "no, I don't".
Why should I be impatient? It doesn't bother me :D
If anyone will ever ask me "can I get in the car?" I can BARELY say "maybe.." If someone will ask "can I drive it for 20$?" It's just "NO.". That bothers me! :D
